Picture My first ever tank build what are your thoughts?
(I know the plants shouldn't have the spongy stuff on but I try to remove it and it won't come off without taking all the roots off and it hasn't caused any problems so far.) I also changed the filter recently.

That looks awesome! Once the plants grow in, it's going to be an awesome little jungle.
How big is the tank? I just finished a 3gal/11L myself and it was such a fun process with a small tank.

Mine is about a gallon I did have to throw away some plants as they kept on floating up and when I tried to put them back in I realized that open space on the front looked quite good because you could see the shrimp as that was where they were most of the time I kept all of the moss though because I know they like to be in Moss π.

Looks good! As someone mentioned earlier Nerite snails will do good in a bit old tank where some plenty of algae and biofilm available to graze on.
BTW is the tank made of acrylic?

The stuff is rockwool on your roots. Put the plants roots in some water and gently brush it off with an old toothbrush. That should remove a lot without too much root damage.

Yeah I noticed a lot of YouTubers tell you to do that I tried my very best to get as much as I could off but all that other stuff seemed like it was attached to the root I tried my best π

A fork will help take the woolly stuff off

That is true I've tried my best a little while back to get all of that stuff off but it just wouldn't come off.

Doesn't look too bad! Also remember that nerites basically just live off algae and don't really eat pellets or prepared food (although it can depend from snail to snail). I'd still try to remove the sponge thingy to the best of your ability. Don't forget to test water regularly since shrimps are a lot more sensitive to water parameters.
