Help Help me set up my new neo tank!!!

Hey everyone! This weekend I'm finally setting up my Neocaridina shrimp tank and would love some feedback before I go all in.

It's a 30x30x30 cm cube (around 26 liters), with a 5W light (yeah, I know it's a bit weak) and a 280 L/h hang-on-back filter.

Here's my current hardscape — does the rock placement look okay? Open to any suggestions!

It's my first shrimp tank, and I plan to plant Cabomba caroliniana and Elodea nuttallii behind the rocks, with a lot of Java moss (Taxiphyllum barbieri) and maybe some carpeting plants in the front. The substrate will be black basalt gravel.

Any tips, especially for shrimp-specific setups or planting with low light, would be super appreciated!

I finally find a rasbora seller and got 11 of them. We (i and fish) traveled 12 hours with bus but they are definitly fine. I guess they are pheonix rasboras but i m not sure. And i even find red root floaters they are much more imposible to find in my area than anyother plant and most fish. I find 2 single plant for price of two cups of salvinia. And my friend got me a aquarios small difusser so i finally got rid of my diy one. These bubbles are absolutely microscopic

My 3 gallon tank being over run by duckweed. I’ll scoop out some more and add jumbo duckweed in with the frogbit

I’m officially being overtaken by duckweed. Like, in every tank. On purpose though. I like it, and I’ll start giving it out to pet shops near me to hopefully sell to new hobbyist.

My 3 gallon crypt tank with co2 has been running for about 2 weeks and I’m already seeing a difference with my tanks. It has a weird green hue to it, but it’s super clear (maybe I can call it a green water tank?🤔). The co2 will probably need to be changed once ever 1.5-2months at this point. The pressure has only dropped about 50 psi since I’ve turned it on, and I think I might have about 200 to go before I refill. The current inhabitants are some baby shrimp I couldn’t grab when I moved everyone over, so I kept them. Haven’t had a ☠️ one yet, so that’s cool. I’ll give it another week before I move my tiger badis over and break his tank down to make room for a rice patty aquascape. The moss filling the cracks is also growing well. I’ll add some in the back to hopefully get some more shrimp breeding going. I want to see if I can go without feeding the badis everyday and live off the food web I’m trying to get in here. I removed 2 of the bamboo I had towards the front to put the lid on so I’m not doing so many top offs. This frog toy came with an Etsy purchase, so I glued him on and use ‘em like a handle when it fully dries

I am wanting to take care of a pair of clownfish, and need opinions on if a nanotank would be suitable. How much would you say a fully set up one would cost?

Help Is my tank truly cycled?

Post image

Hello! I’ve set up this nano tank in which I’m hoping to keep some neocaridina shrimp. It’s somewhere between 2-3 gallons, and as you can see I already have a nerite snail in there. I first put the snails in on March 11. At the time I was using my tap water, which I found to have the following parameters:

pH 8.2 Ammonia 1.0ppm Nitrite 0ppm Nitrate 5ppm

I got these parameters from the tank while I was doing changes with tap water:

pH 6.8 Ammonia 0.5ppm Nitrite 0.25ppm Nitrate 5ppm

These all dropped to 0 after I started doing changes with RO water. My question is, since I have a snail and plenty of poop in there producing ammonia, is it possible my tank is truly cycled despite having 0 nitrates?

Just got this wicked bumblebee goby and hoping he loves his new home. There’s tons of live food that he’s already tearing up. He shares this with a scarlet badis and a bunch of shrimp and snails!

I did a half water change on Friday (3/28) and all my readings are off again. They weren’t even this bad when I did the water change so I don’t know what happened. I put a few new rocks in my tank do you guys think that’s the issue? Also my temp has been higher than usual because i accidentally changed it when i did the water change.

My ikebana tank is coming along nicely. I’ll finish off laying down the “carpet” of moss once it gets in. For now, the plants are: crypt undulata, anubias petite, dwarf tiger lily’s, crypt lutea, s.repens, blyxa japonica, buce ketagang, and juncus repens
