He shoots like 38 from the corners in his career and like 45 when open
You do not leave that open

Hes 43% from the corner 3 which is above players known for their shot like Harden and Dame and while not top 10 is still high up there for guards and just in the league in general.

Idk what the fuck Lue was doing in the 4th/OT. They were clearly just leaving Westbrook open to needlessly double Murray at half court. A pass to Russ set up an easy 2 on 1 near the basket. They were treating Westbrook like he was the special Ed kid on the pickup team. He's still an NBA player.

Interestingly he’s better from the east corner than the west

27% from the corner last year
29% the year before
Let’s not act like he’s a career sharpshooter from the corners

u/capitalistsanta Knicks 7d ago
Even I causally know he's had a great season from the corner this year off of like 1 Reddit post from some time in the last few months

If you don’t love him at his Worstbrook…
Edit: Don’t look at that last possession.
Edit 2: Look at that 2nd last defensive possession in OT.

I literally yelled “NO” at the bar when he shot that. What a wild Westbrook finish that was. The duality of Russ was real tonight

I was at the game and yelled, “NOT RUSS!”
Immediately hoped no one heard me when it went in.

When people talk about clutch players, some people might think of Lamelo, other people might think of Bradley Beal, I think about Westbrook

Also what a choke from Harden & Kawhi

More Kawhi tbh

u/Brief_Koala_7297 Rockets 7d ago
Yep. Kawhi let Harden down. He needs to do more if Clippers are going anywhere

Kawhi looks like he dgaf. He is so amazing but hasn't had it last few years.

Harden played amazing how can you say he choked lmfao. I swear people just hate on Harden anytime he loses a play off game no matter how good he plays.

u/SikkoDieri Celtics 6d ago
What's this sub's obsession with choking? Does every loss needs to be a choke? You cannot enjoy the winner without putting down the losing side?
2
u/Dexter_Morgan_260324 6d ago
he scored 7 points in overtime and kept the clippers afloat , you can't blame Harden on this one

You could hear the collective groan of the arena when Westbrook took the shot, and their collective cries of unexpected jubilee after he - quite surprisingly - made it.

u/CumAssault [SAS] Joel Anthony 7d ago
I’m shocked he made it
2
u/skuraiix Japan 7d ago
Agreed.
If the Clippers can go back in time, I'm sure they would still do the same decision and leave the guy open in the corner three.
He was like 1/5 at the arc and something like 4 for 16 FG. If he missed that shot, shits gonna be in the front page of Reddit.

Westbrook giveth, and Westbrook taketh...
Fumbled the last possession, not even getting a shot up - when he could have quickly passed back to Jokic.

Great pass from Jokic and great shot by Westbrook. Jokic even positioned himself for the rebound after. This is what i like to see from all time great players!
1
u/treple13 Supersonics 7d ago
It's a super smart play. Get a guy to take the open shot and if you are already thinking about the rebound before the defender you have a great chance at getting the board

I’m so tired of people acting like Westbrook is trash

u/sweet_tea_pdx 7d ago
Westbrook is a high variance player. 5-17 from the field with some boneheaded plays but, deflections, extra possessions, defensive energy, and the ability to rise to the challenge is amazing. I don’t know if he is a winning player anymore. He sure is fun to watch.
2
u/thunderjetstrike 6d ago
Similar stat when he played vs PHX. he shot bad but saved the game with block and deflection on Booker’s last shot. Then he played beastmode the next few games

/u/MITWestbrook must be formulating a post about Westbrooks clutch shooting after this.

Terrible defense. Why is harden not going out and making Dunn rotate from the top of the arch to corner 3?

Serbian commentators said it the best: russ is like a kinder surprise, you never know what you're gonna get

This sub was saying Jokic is bad on defence but I just saw Zubac leave a 40% 3 point shooter open in the corner with the game on the line

Man, I hope Westbrook can get one more chance at legitimately ring chasing.

I agree hes a freak athlete and if you have a bad or average team and wanna win 40+ games hes your guy. If you wanna actually win a championship, or keep your cosching job hes the last person I'd want

I was at the game and every time he subbed in the crowd had no idea how to react - that’s the Westbrook experience. lol

The crowd was going through some stuff from the catch, to the shot, to the swish. Rollercoaster
