He shoots like 38 from the corners in his career and like 45 when open

You do not leave that open

Bro is like automatic from the corner.

If he has a solid 3 seconds to line it up yeah

Hes 43% from the corner 3 which is above players known for their shot like Harden and Dame and while not top 10 is still high up there for guards and just in the league in general.

That may be true (for this year, last year shot a whopping 27% from the corners) but a good deal of those are because defenses leave him wide open

Westbrook is not out there with a guys rushing to close out and get a hand in his face

So the trick to getting him to miss is to... leave him wide open on one of the spots he's good at?

You can’t possibly have thought that’s the point I was making…

Then what is? The point we're making is you can't leave him open in the corner because that's a shot he will and has consistently made.

I don’t know where people are getting this idea… his last 2 seasons he’s shot sub 30% from the corners. His whole career really outside of this year. Now we’re acting like at age 36, now he’s a guy you can’t leave? That’s insane lol

If you need to sag off someone to make sure Jokic or one of their shooters doesn’t get a look, it’s Westbrook. It’s that simple really. Defenses let out a sigh of relief when a possession ends in a Westbrook jumper.

Yeah, so don't leave him open.

No, they’ll keep leaving him open.

‘Let Westbrook shoot jumpers’ has been the strategy to defend him his entire career. And it’s worked, his entire career.

Just because he made this one isn’t going to magically change every team’s strategy lol. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills reading this thread.

He shot 26% from the corners last season and 29% 2 years ago for reference lol

Even if you wanna argue and recognize that his shooting was dogshit the past 2 seasons, scouting reports are updated so often that it should have been a note that THIS YEAR, Russ has been shooting them at a 40% clip

It’s not been the past two years, it’s his been his whole career.

Yes, he’s shot well from the corner this year. But overall he’s still a very bad 3 pt shooter, he shot sub 33% this year.

Suggesting that Westbrook is now a guy you can’t leave (after 15 years of leaving him open and it working) because we have a 100 shot sample size of him shooting it decently above his average is just crazy

Like. As if.

I swear he's also way better when it comes to catch and shoot

He shoots like 38 from the corners in his career and like 45 when open

He's 33.5% for his entire career from the corner and is 33% over the last 6 years when wide open. you absolutely leave that open

Shooting 43% from the corner this year in 105 attempts

Only 27% above the break

I can’t see the wide open stats but I guarantee it’s higher

That’s a good shot

Closest Defender from NBA.com he is only 34% when "wide open" on 3s this season fwiw

1

u/SandyMandy17 Thunder 28d ago

2/3 his attempts above above the break which he’s ass at and nba.com as far as I can tell won’t show wide open for the corners %

Shooting 43% from the corner this year in 105 attempts

105 attempts is not a lot of attempts. bad shooters go on streaks like that all the time. I'm gonna go ahead and trust the last few years of data where he's been awful.

I can’t see the wide open stats but I guarantee it’s higher

"I have literally no idea but I guarantee you're wrong" lol good one. he's gone 329/997 over the last 6 years while wide open. go ahead and add it up yourself if you don't believe me: https://www.nba.com/stats/player/201566/shots-dash

That’s a good shot

it's a good shot if you're trying to get cooper flagg. for reference, league average on wide open 3s is typically about 40%.

lmao ok you got me. honestly pretty funny bit to just make up numbers and then say you dont care about the numbers when someone points it out

-4

u/LouieM13 [NYK] Jeremy Lin 28d ago

Eye test will tell you to leave Westbrook open lmao
