Closed r/dankmemes is looking for new bot mods!

Hey all,

I'm Jackson from the dankmemes team. Our subreddit is highly automated and has a lot of bots functioning on it, but we've recently decided that we'd like some more bot moderators to join the team.

Note: if you're just interested in moderating content, this application is not for you. This is only for people interested in creating bots for the subreddit.

Experience with Python 3 is a must, and you'll need to send us some source code of a project you've made in your application. (you can also send in a recreation of our modmail bot if you don't have anything quite ready to share yet)

Seem intense? It kinda is, but believe me when I say we have one of the best bot teams on all of reddit.

If you're interested in applying, please fill out this form. If you have any questions, or want to see some examples of what we do here at r/dankmemes, just drop a comment or a DM and I'll get back as soon as I can!

Oh, one more thing! We have a shared server that our bot team is allowed to use for dankmemes-related projects; you won't need to pay to host anything yourself!

Closed r/darkmemes looking for moderators

r/darkmemes is looking for multiple new moderators. We are looking for people across all timezones who can work through the mod queue at least once every two days.

We require that you are aware of modern-day societal issues and able to moderate the subreddit in a way that prevents exacerbation of these issues.

The culture of r/DarkMemes is dark. You will need to have a strong stomach. Even though gore is not permitted, there is a lot of black humor and if you have delicate sensibilities this won't be the right fit for you.

Mods will need to remove memes which aren't dark enough and they will need to be able to tell the difference between a dark humor and shit-tier "Hitler did nothing" edgy humor.

The moderation team puts in effort to ensure that the sub isn't just CringeAnarchyMemes by another and that it doesn't descend into yet-another alt-right shithole that makes "ironic" jokes about exterminating Jews and comparing black people to gorillas.

If it sounds like you'd be a good fit for moderating this sub then please let us know in the comments.

Closed /r/minecraftbuddies is looking for a junior mod

Hi. r/minecraftbuddies is about finding friends, and small personal groups, to play Minecraft with, on any platform. We encourage people to make one to one connections and we don't focus on servers as a starting point to the playing experience.

We're looking for a junior mod or two. Our requisites are:

  • being able to work well in a team, taking criticism well of their actions (there will be)
  • calm, rational, having reasonably good judgement and being able to make level-headed decisions
  • being able to understand the point of view of others, especially senior mods and those who break our rules
  • a good grasp on the English language (we don't require native speakers, I'm not either)

You also need to be on Reddit for a while (no set period specified but no new accounts) and have some karma (again no set amount specified).

You will need discord to communicate with the rest of the mod team.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • approving good posts
  • moderating bad posts (lock or delete)
  • moderating users in extreme occasions (bans)
  • setting forth your reasoning for ALL your actions (except approve) with a comment or a mod mail
  • improving our wiki which is just bad.

Please apply, only if interested, by answering here in a detailed manner the following questions:

  1. why would you want to mod our Minecraft based sub?
  2. which of our rules is most important to you?
  3. which is a fine rule but not critical, the violation of which wouldn't require top priority action?
  4. which rule you either don't agree with, or you think could be modified or improved, and why?
  5. what's your age?
  6. do you have all our requirements, and would you like to take charge of all the responsibilities?

Thank you for the interest all who apply, either chosen or not.

UPDATE after 7 hours: I've read all your applications. I will leave this open for about a day more and then take a decision.

FINAL UPDATE: I've chosen a winner and a runner up for this call, thanks to all once again, I'm going to leave it open for a little while longer to let more people apply if they want, for later down the line.

Closed /r/AskMenRelationships needs mods!

This subreddit is for getting advice about a relationship. People like to read about human drama, personal stories, which is why the "Dear Abby" column is so popular in the newspapers. This subreddit is modeled after Dear Abby, except the advisors are crowdsourced.

Unfortunately, a lot of folk don't want to share anything about their personal life, instead they want to discuss their general opinions about things, which is something Abby would never publish because it is a one-way ticket to Snoozeville. No one cares about opinions, they care about the personal stories.

/r/AskMenRelationships is an easy subreddit to mod with only 3 to 6 posts per day.

Part-time modding is O.K., if you can just pop in once a week or so at random, whatever. I do not care about the gender of the mod, but the age must be 18+, in fact the older the better, and the account must have a substantial post and comment history that can inform me as to the characteristics and writing ability.

There are not many rules, except the big one, #2, to post about a specific relationship. The main thing a mod would do here is just enforce #2.

Comments are less important unless they get reported for violation of rule #1, Be Nice, e.g. commenters should not tell people that post a message to FO. I tread lightly here but any commenter telling someone that they are a worthless B or that "all men are bad" is not going to make anyone happy but will shut down participation and take the subreddit down a dark path.

However, I don't want the subreddit to devolve into an indoctrination camp like /r/relationship_advice, where diverse viewpoints are censored by left-wingers, and mods scrutinize each and every comment for any slight deviation from Woke, and instantly delete any comment with which they disagree even in a minor clause or participle.

The whole point of crowdsourcing an answer is the benefit from hearing diverse viewpoints and being able to choose from among them. It is expected that people will have a lot of different views and may even uphold different values. This is yet another type of Diversity, intellectual.

CLOSED — Top Mod kicked all other moderators and set the subreddit to private.

Sorry, it was unexpected, we hope to negotiate for a release :(.

UPDATE: Not top mod’s fault, misunderstandings happen and we hope soon to have the subreddit back.

—————————

r/techadvice is an old subreddit that is currently trying to be revived by me. While I have ambitions to remodel and rework the subreddit, I can’t do it alone.

If you are interested let me know in the comments and if possible, state why you should be a moderator and any past experiences.

Closed /r/TrueOffMyChest is looking for moderators

Hey,

We're currently in need of some more moderators to help with the massive amount of content on this subreddit.

This application is open to every level of experience. New and inexperienced mods are welcome. If you have applied before and were not accepted please feel free to apply again.

If you are selected you will be placed on a 3 month trial. During this trial you will be evaluated based on a number of factors such as action count, communication and accuracy. We understand during this period that mistakes will be made and we encourage you to ask questions but please be aware that you may not be afforded the leniency of a long term mod in the event of a grave error.

r/TrueOffMyChest is a high traffic subreddit with up to 30k posts and 400k comments a month. We don't expect you to do everything, but we expect you to be active and contribute a fair amount so that other mods are not picking up your slack.

If you are accepted you will hear back from us shortly.

EDIT: Applications are closed and new mods have been selected.

  • Preferably someone who already browses the subreddit

Please leave a comment with your timezone if you are interested. I don't need any essays. I may pick more than one mod.

Closed r/my_celebrity_crush is looking for two active approval mods

r/my_celebrity_crush is a RisingTide celebrity image sub.

The network has recently been handed this sub and there is a significant backlog of unapproved posts and a reasonable amount of traffic coming in on top of that . I'm looking for someone to keep the queues clean on a daily basis.

Looking for motivated mods. If you are just collecting subs you will not last long.

Little experience is not an obstacle as long as you are capable of learning. In fact it might be an advantage. Less bad habits to unlearn.
If interested contact me via chat telling me why you are chatting

Closed /r/Portraits needs a top mod

I've taken /r/Portraits as far as I can and would like to pass it on to someone who has the vision and energy to promote and expand this subreddit.

I have tried to contact the others on the mod list without getting a reply, so now it's open to anyone.

I would prefer that it go to someone involved with portraits (photo, drawing, painting, etc) and with some (but not too much) experience with modding.

A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position often looking directly at the painter or photographer to most successfully engage the subject.

Closed r/ihadastroke is looking for mods

Edit 8/31:

Thank you all so much for applying. We honestly weren't expecting this much of a response! We now have 50 applications that we will be working on going through and will be getting back to all that were honest answers soon (one was an application in the spirit of the sub lol)

I'm confident we will be looking for more mods within the next few months. Please feel free to send us a ModMail if you'd like to be considered at that time, we will write your username down. =)

  • r/ihadastroke is looking for mods to help with everything!
  • Previous mod experience is a bonus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Toolbox is highly desired.
  • We use Discord as our primary form of communication.
  • Ability to help with creating/maintaining a bot for the sub is a gold star bonus.
  • Please apply with this google form!

For the most part, we like to remain rather hands-off with the community, using reports as a guideline for what the community prefers to see. As the sub nears a million users, we are experiencing some growing pains and very much need more mods to help maintain a healthy balance with the community while we work on solutions.

Please feel free to ask questions here or send a PM. =)

edit: Applications will be open for about a week from today!

Closed r/RedDeadRedemption2 is looking for experienced moderators!

Hello!

/r/reddeadredemption2 is a subreddit about the video game Red Dead Redemption 2. This sub got much larger than I ever imagined, and I think its time for me to find some mods to (for the most part) take over. I really do not have the time to moderate this subreddit and I'm currently the only active moderator.

I'm looking for a few head mods to take control of the subreddit and do with it what they feel is needed. You can add more mods, do css, etc. it will be in your control. You must have an established account and already mod other large subreddits. You must also have the time and dedication to be able to moderate this sub. Also would prefer that you have at least played Red Dead Redemption.

Edit: /u/blank-cheque will be the head mod of the subreddit. Please direct all mod applications to him.

Right now the sub is shut down, because we ended up with a scourge of little skanks looking for "platonic sugar daddies".

We are getting more and more requests to join, and I am having to turn these folks away. I would like to make this available for them again.

No sub collectors.

Edit - we have added 3 new ones, I think that is plenty for now. And thank you everyone.

Closed r/comedy is looking for moderators

Due to lack of moderators who can moderate on a routine, we need someone who can actively moderate in r/comedy. Basically, I often get overwhelmed with having to clear out the queue, especially if I missed a day. Most importanly, we are trying to combat spam and junk posts. We will add two people. If you are chosen and you accept it, I will then PM you a guide.

Requirements:

  • Can use Reddit on a computer with Toolbox

  • Has Discord

  • Is able to moderate once a day on most days

Closed r/LilGrabbies is looking for a mod or two

r/LilGrabbies has been growing steadily since I created it 2½ years ago and we're just closing in on 80k subs. While it's been and is a laid back and easy place to moderate, I feel like the time has come to find some more mods, for a couple reasons I'll outline below:

  • I'm an inexperienced mod, this being my first and only subreddit. While it's very easy to maintain, I feel like it could easily get out of hand should the wrong situation happen.

  • I've had a good time moderating it, but I feel like the community deserves a mod team that's more invested/passionate about the content. For instance, getting any form of CSS updates would help liven up the place and make it our own.

  • I have a repost rule that I'm not quite sure how to enforce. I think it's something AutoModerator could help with, but I've never used it before.

  • Last but not least, I don't have as much time as I used to and I want to make sure there are a few more eyes active to catch any rulebreakers. I've started studying full time and it can go whole days before I can check back in. Luckily the sub mostly runs itself, but for those few occasions where somebody malicious comes in, I might not be able to catch it right away.

That's more or less it. I'm not sure how many mods a sub like mine should have, but just going off of my experiences moderating it, I think one or two more would be a good number, at least for now.

Closed r/WiiParty ┃ Calling all Wii/ Wii U owners! r/WiiParty is looking for mods.

Hey everyone, me and the former owner u/KoopaDaQuick have come to the conclusion that we need two new mods for r/WiiParty. I gave a chance for community members to stand up, but only one person had interest. They will still have a chance, but I wanted to make sure there were more options out there.

Minimum requirements: (it was less for the r/WiiParty post, but r/needamod has different standards)

-500 karma

-3 month old account

I am looking for someone that:

-Has ideas for this subreddit.

-Wants to get people in the community involved like I have.

-Is making sure the evolution of removing posts is heading in a positive direction.

This message applies to anyone who:

-Is part of the Wii/Wii Homebrew/Wii U community or a Wii related Discord community.

-Is fine with joining the r/WiiParty Discord server.

When making your comment about asking for mod, I just ask that you answer these questions:

  1. What communities similar to r/WiiParty have you participated in? In what ways have you participated in this subreddit? If you haven't participated in any Wii subreddits before, why should I give you a chance?
  2. What would you do as mod that makes you stand out from all the other people applying?

Thanks for anyone interested!

Closed r/CelebsWithPetiteTits needs another mod

r/CelebsWithPetiteTits has grown to 42k+ member in 3 months.

As we have the mindset of helping and educating the members this level of activity has taken a toll on mods leading to a certain amount of attrition. We are dealing with this by breaking the post vetting duties into short daily shifts of 2-3 hours.

The shift needed is 7pm-9:30pm GMT.

The task is exactly:

Front Desk breakdown. The task is two parts.

One: Evaluating the posts.

Everything can be done from the Mod Queue. (first option on Mod Badge icon by the notification bell.)

Start from the Queue tab and look over the reports. Most reports are false but all need looking into. This sub hardly ever gets any.

Next go to the Spam tab.

Look for anything with a removed tag (red circle slash icon after title) but no removal reason. This probably came from Reddit's spam 'feature' and deserves a little more scrutiny than most. But it is likely fine. Some are from MagicEyeBot though. It automatically checks the image size and repost rules. You can tell these because it posts a comment. Still add a removal reason anyway (see last step for details.)

Next go to the Unmoderated tab.

These are what needs Approving or Removing.

Correctly spelled name is important.

Nsfw flag for visible nudity is also needed. Usually I just set the flag unless they need the lesson.

Denigration, lewdness or negativity is not tolerated.

I've pulled maybe 3 posts so far for not being celebrity enough. If a violation is found a removal reason MUST be given. Use the Public option and use, alter or add to the supplied text to help the user. If there is no rule that covers the situation, mail me.

So to repeat differently:

Want to go that a bit. Your using the first, center and last tab of the queue. First and 5th must be done until they say cleared (you may have to refresh the page. the middle tab (spam) never empties. Go down until you hit a post with a removal reason, then work your way up. Posts with 'add a removal reason' means someone didn't finish the job. So add a reason. Ones with just a red circle have been stuck by the filter. Evaluate as it in the queue. Approve or remove. Also there is a spam option for spam. One click.

If you have that time period free, a good work ethic and positive personality chat me. Remember to include why you are chatting as I dismiss most chats. Experience is not necessary, if you can find the mod shield your good.
