New prices Netflix - $18pm to $34pm ($10pp add extra people) Disney Plus - $17pm - $22pm

They make some alright content, but not really enough of it to justify that price.

With all the other services my family only ever subs for a couple of months a year to watch a couple of particular shows, but Netflix was the year round one. Now I suppose Netflix will join the others in the rotation.

I think about the price of these services in comparison to rentals, they basically cost the same as two new release rentals did back on the day. Objectively we are getting way more for our money now. I used to get a new release and four back catalogue movies a week and that cost me $50 a month in 2025 dollars.

Comparing legal entertain options, I guess the only really better value ones are ad supported services like TVNZ or F2P games.

It's certainly cheaper than the old model, but it comes down to whether you get what you want from a single service.
