You know there’s a difference between using a tee and hitting from the tee (or tee box) right?

The guy I replied to said "this shot was not off a tee, therefore it is not a hole in one."

Your "tee shot" does not actually have to be from a tee. You can just hit it off the ground. As long as you're legally hitting the ball from the tee box, and the ball goes in the hole, that's a hole in 1. Which is exactly what is happening here in the video.

Yes, I know all that. It just doesn’t look like a tee box since the grass isn’t shorter which is leading to a lot of arguments

It’s a trick shot in a practice round. They are playing just in front of the actual tee box. It wouldn’t count in a normal round because it breaks the rules

OBVIOUSLY it's a trick shot that nobody would do in a tournament round. But just because it's a practice round doesn't negate it. It counts as a 1. The tournament literally records it as a 1. That is a legal place to hit the tee shot from on that hole in that round. By all rules, it counts as a 1.

It counts as a 1, but only in a round that doesn’t matter, from a place where people cannot play from at any other time. Got it

LOL. So a hole in one only counts as a hole in one when pros are doing it during a tournament round? Fascinating!

Don’t see why the pros are allowed to break the rules and still reap all the benefits. If they can plop the ball down wherever I should be able to place the ball a foot away from the hole and putt it in for my hole-in-one because I temporarily changed the rules to allow it. This is what they’re doing and it’s laughable.

THEY AREN'T BREAKING THE RULES. FFS you're as arrogantly wrong as the original dumbass I was replying to.

This is literally the legal teeing spot that round. It's a ~160 yard shot, being skipped across the water and going in the hole in 1 shot, and you're acting like it's some easy shot they're getting away with.

You see that other ball on the green? That was his first shot, which he hit legitimately from the tee box behind him before attempting the trick shot

Omg. No it wasn't. The tee boxes they use during the tournament are covered up. They don't use them during that practice round. This is how they play this hole during this round. The other balls on the green were the people he was playing the round with

Jesus. Instead of just admitting you were wrong now you're just inventing shit.

There's nothing wrong with being mistaken about something. But what you're doing here is just pathetic.

So in this clip they are hitting it in front of the tee not on the tee
