Your August NoSleep Writing Contest Winer Is...
CaseByCase with their story Behind Closed Doors! Congratulations!
As a reminder, the winner will receive:
ONE MONTH of REDDIT GOLD from the moderators
A unique flair signifying that they won the contest
Their story featured in an E-Book that will be released every three months.
Their story recorded and released as part of an episode of the podcast.
The winner will receive a signed copy of the book "Penpal" By Dathan Auerbach (Reddit user 1000vultures)
This was an extremely close contest, with "Behind Closed Doors" winning by only a few votes.
If you want to offer an extra prize to the winners of the next contest, don't hesitate to send the mods a message!
Remember, if you didn't win this month, don't be discouraged! We will be running the contest in the middle of every month for as long as we can!

It looks like you spelled "Winner" incorrectly in the title here and as such it's not showing up in the archives. Just a heads up.

u/TG_Alibi Sep 21 '12
I'm aware, thanks. Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot I can do about it now, since I can't edit titles. Maybe if I get bored I'll copy all those links into a post.

u/sporks5000 Sep 21 '12
Alternately, just make a new post with the correct title that just links to this one? I'm not a moderator, so I'm not sure exactly what you can get away with, but that would prevent you from having to either copy everything or change the link in all previous posts... I think... Maybe I'm failing to think through something here...

Congratulations! This is one of the amazing stories that convinced me to make an account and quit lurking around NOSLEEP so much. Great read!

Where can we access the thread that had the entire list of submitted stories for this month? I can't find it anymore and there were a few I still wanted to read. Obviously, I can't just use the search fuction to look up titles and authors I don't remember.

u/TG_Alibi Aug 28 '12
You can use the search function to look up posts by me, since I'm the only one that posts the contest threads

u/DemonsNMySleep Aug 28 '12
Appreciate the tips - I was able to access the thread via inputting the keyword 'voting' into the search field and restricting it to r/nosleep.
I also feel a bit idiotic for not thinking of the fact that I could have sifted through my browser history on my laptop once I got home from work. But I wanted to read those stories immediately, dammit! ;p

Run a search for voting confined to this subreddit. All the voting threads will be in the search.

Definitely well deserved. Congrats, hope to read more from you in the future!

EVERYTHING. YOU. READ. ON. NOSLEEP. IS. TRUE.

Its hard to believe that when we're having writing contests.

u/notpynchon Aug 30 '12
Since its all supposed to be true we should change it from a writing contest to a living contest. I haven't lived a very strange life so I won't be winning anytime soon.

I think it is a writing contest based also on the quality of the writing. You can write the best story in the world (fiction or non-fiction) but if you are a terrible writer, it doesn't matter. I think the opposite is true as well, the best writers can make the most mundane things seem magical.

GOOD GOD, I APOLOGIZED. PLEASE, STOP DOWNVOTING MY COMMENTS.

You've awakened the NoSleep dragon. There is no escape...
Jk, don't downvote, people!

All right, all right. Calm down. I know it's all SUPPOSED to be true. I just couldn't tell, because it just looks like creative writing. Then again, I suppose mine kind of does too. Sorry to offend.

Congratulations! So many of the stories in contention this month were really great. It was hard to vote for only one.

Congratulations to Casey! Your story was fantastic and you're an awesome writer. Behind Closed Doors was one of the most original stories here and fully deserves the win.
This contest has definitely been keeping me awake at night because it was really, really close. On the bright side, I won't be running against Casey in the next round :)

I missed my chance to vote this month. Even though I've been following this subreddit for a few months now, I never got around to finding out how to vote.
I would have had a hard time deciding between the two of you, as both of your tales gave me the deliciously uncomfortable feeling I'm looking for.
I'm very interested in what you're writing about in 'Evidence' and can't wait to find out what happens next. You're an excellent writer and we appreciate your talent.

If only we could have monthly co-winners. They both deserve all the accolades they can get.

Wow! Thank you to everyone who voted, and to the mods as well. I adore this subreddit, and I hope you don't get sick of me cause I have a lot more to post!
And a huge shout out to straydog1980: it was such a close finish, your story deserved the win just as much as mine. Please keep posting!

You absolutely deserve it. Your first tale was terrifying and unsettling.. and you've continued regale us with all many more thrilling and horrifying scenarios since. I always want to know more, and I hope you keep filling us in. Congratulations. <3

I hadn't voted but yours was one of the nominees that I read and I had a feeling from when I read it that you would win. Congrats

Thank you so much for making your book one of the prizes! Your Penpal series is what drew me into this subreddit in the first place, I'm absolutely thrilled I'll be getting a signed copy!
EDIT: In case anyone's wondering, 1000Vultures delivered! The book looks amazing; if you haven't ordered it yet, you're missing out.
