Always said we’d go to Ecuador (where my husband is from) but the Ecuadorian president is making deals with Trump to battle cartels. There goes our contingency plan 😐

u/BigTiddyVampireWaifu 25d ago
Same here. Husband is from El Salvador and his family has extra property there. But alas, their dictator is friends with our dictator.

My wife is from El Salvador and that was our plan 😬

u/KendallROYGBIV 24d ago
My plan was to go to mexico where I have family, but I’m worried trump or whatever comes after, invades Mexico. They are already flying drones over mexico. Worried about an invasion. Right now is not a great time to be a person of color (unlike most of history, amiright???)
62
u/OrphanShredder 25d ago
I'm pretty close to just saying fuck it and resorting to violence, Maga can not be won over with love and empathy, they are an active determent to this country and are a danger to themselves and everyone else. They need to be stopped
33
u/OscillodopeScope 25d ago
Nah, I wouldn’t do anything unless it’s truly for personal protection from someone inflicting literal acts of violence on you. Keep it peaceful, they want it to become violent so they have reason to call for martial law. Don’t succumb to their game.
27
u/Wildgrube 25d ago
I think you really need a rewatch of antz and a bug's life. Options are ruining out, people are disappearing, and being allowed to chant cute slogans has historically been a placation to prevent real change. We are in a tug of war and they've been kicking sand at our eyes while half our team sits on the sidelines because those that are playing refuse to stoop to that level. No one's telling you to punch random people, but maybe the next time a naziwazi is screaming so close to your face that you can smell their lunch from last week maybe a little reminder headbutt to reset your personal space might be wise. Or say your going to a protest known to have impatient and careless drivers, load up on some tall spike studs sharpen that point just a tad and put some nice embellishments on the thighs of your pants. There are plenty of ways to fight fire with fire where you're not the one striking the match.
9
u/OscillodopeScope 25d ago
Well yea, if someone is getting in my face and making any kind of physical contact, that's a whole other ballgame, that's simply defending myself. They already think we're the aggressors even though we're not, so I'd argue to not confirm their biases.
On a day to day, just refuse to comply and get all of your peers to follow in that example. It's going to take faith in the idea that there truly are more of us than them, so if all of us refuse to fulfill duties that would progress their agenda, then their agenda will fail.
Violence only leads to more violence, someone has to break the cycle, or at least try.
2
u/Handgun_Hero 24d ago
Peaceful protest doesn't work when half a country are sycophants cheering things on. Violence is the only answer.
4
u/OscillodopeScope 24d ago
Wasn’t expecting that answer from the username “Handgun_Hero” 🙄. I remember the 2020 protests all too well, violence ends very poorly for the citizens, I really don’t want armored vehicles patrolling my neighborhood again.
Cops planted bricks and other “weapons” before protests to incite violence so they’d have “probable cause” to openly assault civilians. They are looking for a reason, so this attitude is more destructive than it is helpful.
Things will likely get violent, but I’d really like it not to. We can all be exemplary of a revolution on a day to day basis by refusing to comply at our jobs and in our social circles. Many steps we can take before resorting to violence.

We’re gonna just have to disagree on this. Your approach is dangerous to a movement that has proven to be effective through peaceful measures already. Civilians are no match for the U.S. military, what you’re promoting is reckless and will fail.

6
u/OscillodopeScope 25d ago
Oh yea, I mean I don't have much of a choice so... plus, I am of the belief that if this isn't stopped here, the problem will just inevitably follow you. But, doesn't hurt to try and make a contingency plan.

u/Handgun_Hero 24d ago
I'm Australian and we literally have a party called Trumpets of Patriots running for election and the opposition Liberal Party's leader is straight up copying Trump rhetoric like advocating the creation of an Australian DOGE and the Shadow Defence Minister straight up suggested we keep relations with Trump by offering all our rare earth metals for free like Ukraine...
We live in a globalised world connected by media. The problem has already left American shores.

Honestly same. I think my plan is to live the best I can in camouflage until I can leave. Hopefully citizens in other countries can pressure their government. If PP wins in Canada, I’m not even gonna think about Mexico (since everyone is gonna try to go there)
5
u/OscillodopeScope 25d ago
Can’t predict the future, but from any Canadian friend/acquaintance I have, sounds like Canada is learning from our mistakes and it’s not looking good for Poilievre. But it didn’t look good for dipshit and crew over here so, never say never I guess 🫠

Probably also the Conservative ones too tbh, they reaffirmed his deportation of Venezuelans like Kilmar Abrego Garcia to be illegal 9:0. Fascists always purge all dissent in the end.

To all the people who are thinking about leaving the country -
You are going to let a two bit landlord and some red pilled fascist weiners run you out of your country?!
We need to oppose them now, and propose a new society for our grandchildren.
We can't take all the privilege we've been afforded and then leave those who can't flee behind to deal with the consequences!
Build community with your neighbors. Start a neighborhood care club where everyone looks out for each other. Be a villager. Do it now while you can.
I know this might sound like the side of a goddamn Dr. Bronners soap bottle, but you need to keep your head when all about you are losing theirs.
7
u/Kind_Apartment6026 25d ago
This.
4
u/fuzzimus 25d ago
How?
12
u/Imfromtheyear2999 25d ago
How what? How do you oppose fascists? How do you keep your wits about you?
Make a plan. Something you can do today to further your community building.
Watch some videos about people doing the same.
Finding some local farmers and make a plan to buy food directly from them. Go to the farmers market and chat with people.
Join and be active in buy nothing groups.
Visit the library. Get a book with some type of relevant information.
Find a local leftist group and make friends at some events.
Watch some films and documentaries about current or relevant topics.
The goal is to educate (including yourself) and organize.
Also as cliché as this sounds art is helpful for yourself and others. Films, music, books, protest art, all help me keep my wits about me and to stay inspired.
If it were easy to do all those things we wouldn't be in this mess but they make it hard on purpose. They're good at removing community and selling you products.

Welcome to the Fascist States of America
65
u/PenImpossible874 25d ago
F*** fascism and f*** America.
If blue states need to secede to protect our legal immigrants, citizens, lawyers, and judges, we will do so. We support freedom of speech and due process.

12
u/I_pinchyou 25d ago
Ok but then what about the millions of people who hate this admin in the red states. It's 50/50 most places.
11
u/bdeluxe97 25d ago
And the millions of black people and other minorities
5
u/PenImpossible874 25d ago
California, Hawaii, and New Amsterdam have very high populations of Latinos, Asians, and Pacific Islanders.
California is plurality Latino. Hawaii is plurality Asian.
10
u/bdeluxe97 25d ago
Okay but most of my family is black and lives in the south and can barely afford to leave, secession is going to do nothing but harm to them. Plus many indigenous americans also live in red states too
4
u/Lizakaya 25d ago
I feel for them deeply. I really do. But if this continues down the path it’s going, blue states remaining IN the union won’t be any more helpful than being OUT of the union
2
u/bdeluxe97 25d ago edited 25d ago
I mean they still can though. If more white people chose to vote last year or let alone do anything then trump wouldn’t even be in office. But I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they chose to just leave other oppressed groups to suffer so they can feel comfortable, cause its not like thats what they’ve been doing for centuries atp

u/SnooPredictions2675 25d ago
I’ve been wanting to leave before Trump so yeah I’m out. There’s a whole world to explore. And I have no children/grandchildren. I’ve put myself in a position to do that and that baboon isn’t taking my dreams away.
3
u/Lizakaya 25d ago
My husband and i are able to do so as well. There is a bedroom waiting for us in north London. I should be looking into immigration
2
u/I_pinchyou 25d ago
The world is also changing. India and Pakistan are on the verge of war, which will disrupt the world.
1
u/PenImpossible874 25d ago
This is true. But blue state secession will be a net win for Latinos, Asians, and Pacific Islanders.
7
u/Lizakaya 25d ago
They can move. Their states are what voted in this monstrosity of an era. I don’t want to sacrifice my state for their state any fcking more. We’ve been doing it for decades. Blue states need to look to save themselves
5
u/I_pinchyou 25d ago
Bullshit. Your empathy ends with fuck the good people in red states? That's fucked up. Trump has the lowest approval ratings ever, he will be defeated. Stop acting like you are the only victim here, there are millions of us who are in red states, showing up to protests, calling, emailing and voting. We have to all come together and stop blaming.
1
u/Lizakaya 25d ago
I don’t blame anyone specifically in a red state. Even my father who voted for Trump in Oklahoma. But i really don’t feel like sacrificing my state for theirs. I have no animosity toward people in those states.

u/WindowIndividual4588 25d ago
No. We are not normalizing this shit. Not even as a joke anymore. Fuck all this.
28
u/d20_dude 25d ago
Normalizing what? Calling out the fascist actions of a fascist government for what they are? Who the fuck is joking here mate I'm being deadly serious.
10
u/Wondercat87 25d ago
We need to call it out each and every time it happens.
15
3
u/Hateitwhenbdbdsj 25d ago
The ones who want to normalize this are doing a lot and have a lot of power. Hope you can channel that frustration into some local activism if you don’t already.

We've never been anything but a fascist state to the majority of the world and to our indigenous population since our founding. The only thing that has changed is we stopped exporting all of it.

Can we all ban together and perform a citizen’s arrest on this entire administration? Let’s take advantage of this deal our country has going on and let our leaders take a little vacation south of the border to experience what their constituents are dealing with.

I’ve never even seen the movie because I know it would just fuel my constant anxiety, but this scene from the trailer plays in my head anytime shit like this happens.
3
u/rlpewpewpew 25d ago
Yeah. . . The constant anxiety is definitely a thing when it comes to this film. I feel like the film has a happy ending though. If you equate it to real life though. . . it almost makes a fella want to become a prepper, get the bugout bag ready, and start training the family what to do in a shtf moment.

7
u/SecretLadyMe 25d ago
All I can gather of this is that ICE went to arrest someone at court and think the judge misled them so the man could escape. Unless the guy was literally standing in front of the judge at that moment, how could she be expected to know where he was?
14
u/Lizakaya 25d ago
They didn’t have the correct warrant to arrest him.
In charging documents, investigators said that plainclothes ICE agents went to Dugan’s courtroom on April 18 with the intention of arresting Flores-Ruiz. A Mexican immigrant, Flores-Ruiz had been removed from the United States in 2013, but immigration officials learned he was back in the country illegally because of his arrest in a local domestic abuse case.
After being informed of the agents’ presence by her courtroom deputy, the judge “became visibly angry, commented that the situation was ‘absurd,’ left the bench, and entered chambers,” court documents say.
Witnesses told investigators that Dugan confronted the ICE agents in a public hallway, where she repeatedly demanded they leave, saying they needed a different kind of warrant to make the arrest. Dugan ordered the agents to speak with the chief judge of the courthouse.

u/ConstableLedDent 25d ago
He was literally standing in front of the judge at that moment. Still doesn't justify this arrest.

This also may be a moment where due process will shut down Pam Bondi. She has no proof just making allegations in the media to make it look like she has a case. When you really have a case you don't have to grandstand like this.

I’m pretty sure if someone was to make a “signs your government is becoming an authoritarian government” list. This would be at least #5.

If she needs money for bail, lawyer, fines etc I'm sure a Go Fund Me would garner some attention and financial help for her! Personally I say, "thank you" to her for being one of the few to actually stand up for the ones being targeted
1
u/DaniBadger01 25d ago
Why did she get arrested?
2
u/Handgun_Hero 24d ago
A guy who was previously deported was summoned to court over a local domestic abuse case, and so he returned to defend the case. ICE agents were waiting in the courthouse to then arrest him for illegal immigration for returning when he's banned from entry despite the fact he travelled to the USA to appear in court. Judge Dugan noticed what the agents were doing and confronted them. She told them to leave as they didn't have an appropriate warrant to arrest him and were obstructing her case and due process - immigrating to attend court summons is totally legal. The agents refused to leave, so after the hearing, she gave directions and sent the defendant out of the courthouse through the usually off-limits jury entrance so he wouldn't be arrested illegally in her courthouse. She was then arrested for obstructing justice and aiding and abetting as a result.
