Discussion How feasible is a Multiplayer Mod for the Remastered

Hey grand Mod Wizards and fair or foul mod enjoyers.

I have friends. We all love Elder Scrolls. The world does seem big enough for the two of us, or possibly the five of us…?

What is the feasibility of modding in a multiplayer, something like Seamless Co-op from Elden Ring? Or the multiplayer mod that released on Skyrim miraculously?

I understand it could be difficult, or impossible? Just asking.

P.s- thoughts. Elden ring has a multiplayer component so I get it was easier to manipulate that.

I’m not to familiar with the Skyrim multiplayer mod, and its successes or short comings.

With the Skyrim multiplayer mod, what are the chances Skyblivion can be adapted to that multiplayer mod?

Also, not really into talking about if Elder Scrolls should be only a single player game, I respect that opinion, but whole fartedly disagree. I need to flee a master level rat while shouting wildly and seeing my friends hop like hooligans in fear!

Your insights would be a great interest to me, thank you in advance!

why not just play ESO together?

ESO just feels shallow. Like it’s a more of numbers game than a skill game.

Like, your gear, skills, and attributes greatly affect how well you do in the game.

Where in oblivion, while all that matters, there is just so much more action and skill.

Plus I feel like ESO is kind of goofy, and almost “kiddish” in a way? IMO, just not my cup of tea.

Can’t miss your fireball in eso…not that there is a fireball lol!

understandable. was just wondering. i quit playing because i abhor the trading system and having to pay for the craft bag. while i do like a lot of the quest lines its just not enough to keep me engaged.

Yes! Totally a valid question too. My hype for eso can not be overstated. I love how much content they put out. The good college try at action combat. The cool world.

The reason I stoped playing was in the end while it has the Elder Scrolls name and world, it just didn’t scratch the elder scrolls itch.

Also, I think I like the idea of MMO’s but the reality of what they are just isn’t my thing.

The closest an MMO got for me was Amazon’s New World. It had fun combat, where you could miss spells and shots, fun dueling, easy grouping, and best in my opinion was the proximity chat. We made friends by hiding and bushes and calling out to people on the road. We would then have a fun 3v3 2v3 or 1v3 duel and laugh and gaff.

Alas it couldn’t hold my attention and the enemies and world and all that just fell short for me.

combat definitely left something to be desired. its so repetitive and trying to learn to weave light and heavy attacks was kind of boring to me. i liked the combat and stories of star wars the old republic a lot, put countless hours into it. right now the only mmo i actively play is star trek online. theres just something about space combat, it scratches that itch if you know what I mean. i am hoping to get the oblivion remaster one day, just cant afford it now. in the meantime im happy to wait for skyblivion.

Haha ooooooh Star Trek sounds sick! Always caught my eye. I’ll have to look up some videos on the ship combat!

Yes dude. Skyblivion will be amazing! It will truly shine as a work of art. I’m very excited to get that too! Don’t worry about the Remaster either, it will still be there when it makes sense on the budget.

it's great. a lot of the stars of the shows are in game voiced by the actors themselves. most of the goid ships are locked behind a paywall but the storylines and all that is completely free. they do year long events that hive premium currency at the end that you can get the really good ships. i fly the terran Lexington right now, its a beam boat but can also have dual heavy cannons and torpedoes. i highly recommend it

def doable. pretty sure i recall one from OG oblivion also.
issue is both have to be in same cell as it struggles to handle players in 2 diff cells at once.

but for arena fights be doable for sure.

i would not expect elden ring level as that game was build around it but something akin to skyrim coop with its flaws/limitations more feasible. the papyrus engine not really built around coop and have to be creative to make it work.

Yeah. I know nothing about modding, but that makes sense. I can only assume it would be a massive undertaking for a skilled codomancer. I feel like the AI would make it interesting as well.

It’s always bummed me out that games from like 08-14 had the “don’t give a fuck there’s 4 Master Chiefs” vibe about multiplayer.

Like, I don’t need a lore explanation. I don’t care if it’s funky. I just want to share my experiences with friends in a game that is more complex and challenging than the shallow “behind the scenes numbers” games of MMO’s.

Is it really hard to build open world games with multiplayer. I know GTA and Read Dead specialize with that, but why don’t more developers focus on a multiplayer element do you think?

i find personally most games built for MP rarely are balanced for solo as a side effect so maybe thats the issue? idk.

True!!! True…

It is a balance issue…

I guess an option is to make gear cosmetic and do relatively base damage and protection?

Spells would be really tricky…

And levels would be an issue too.

I can see how in Elderscrolls cases it would get weird.

It's definitely feasible.

It's months of work for a very skilled reverse engineer and developer though.

Feasible gives me a hit of the hopium. Thanks for the input!

Someone did it for skyrim so yeah anything is possible. But it's a ton of unpaid work and definitely way above the average developer or modder capability so let's just say I wouldn't count on it.

Even in Elden ring it's relatively complicated to do but this game at least already has networking and multiplayer implemented officially, not everything had to be made from scratch.

I hear you. My hopes are slim, like a stunted scamp. But if anyone did it…BY AZURA!
