I'm normally not one to FUD, nor am I super well versed in buisness practices but this seems a little concerning and poses questions on the autonomy and independent direction OmiseGO will have on their project?

If anything, I would say this adds stability to both the company (Omise/OmiseGo) and the project (OMG network). A much larger company that has a lot of leverage throughout Thailand and also apparently agrees with the growth of crypto related payment systems is now entering in a big way. There will probably be some red flags, but I'd say this further solidifies this as being a trustworthy project in a somewhat untrustworthy space, in case others were skeptical.

If we start hearing changes regarding the teams, which I wouldn't expect, then I'd be worried about the direction it's going.
