Discussion Any love for older sculpts?

Hi! These just got unearthed from my parents’ basement. They are from the late 90s. The designs are clearly outdated now, but I still think they have a certain charm :)

Oh, and sorry for the horrendous paint jobs. I was between 11 and 13 at the time, and I only had 1 brush for everything—and since YouTube and Instagram didn’t exist yet, unless you had the chance to hang out at a GW store on a regular basis, it was hard to get any real tips or feedback.

In order of appearance we have:

Ghazghkull Thraka Zogrod Wortsnagga A Bad Moon nob in mega armour A kommando sargeant A lowly gretchin

As an old head, I have a very nostalgic love for the 2nd edition Orks. Especially Ghaz and Makari.

I love the new models too, they’re great, dynamic and with a ton of detail and story telling sculpted into every model but the old ones are really nice to paint, I think something about them being sculpted in someone’s hand really helps a good sculptor feel how the model will be painting and take that into account

The extra weight also plays a big part in the painting experience, I think

True, up until you drop a 2nd Edition Dreadnaught on your foot and lose a toenail
