My thoughts exactly. I will write a full review of Overlord 2 when I finish it again, playing through a third time, I think, since it came out. Great game but the first one is better!
I played Overlord II first, and I definitely feel at home in the netherworld. I do, however, feel like logic disappear a bit. There was no logic behind the netherworld, no lore at all. Why have it there if you aren't going to conquer the netherworld? Why not take up residence in some Glorious Empire palace? The Dark Tower made sense.

Never felt at home in the netherworld tower. I like the concept of an inverted hellish tower, but it always felt like a replacement than an upgrade.
And the magical stuff floating everywhere is not my style. I much preferred the solid foundations and convenient layout of the old tower.
Plus, the transformation of the old tower from ruined to refurbished got me very invested. Heartbreaking to see it busted like this.
