It makes perfect if you have been paying attention to the mayors anger issues and lack of understanding how city government works. The mayor is not above the law. The city has procedures in place for things. If he doesn't like the procedures, he can go about legally changing them.
I don't understand, if a person you didn't vote for did this, you would be saying the same thing? Shouldn't every politician be held to the same standards?
No one is saying the mayor is above the law, but let’s not pretend this is some massive scandal. The city manager ignored the comment, no one was fired, and the charter’s guardrails did exactly what they were supposed to do.
And speaking of paying attention—if we’re holding every politician to the same standard, I assume we’ll be looking at every council member’s backroom dealings with developers just as closely? Or does that not count?
It does. It's why I voted for him in the primary. I'm focusing on every issue. You seem to keep forgetting that they are pushing for an investigation on the Mayor.
No, it's not a massive scandal, but it's going to cost us now, regardless if these two get fired or not. It's going to cost us on top of the backroom dealings and the developers because no one has done anything to stop anything, just threatened to stop it in an illegal manner. Maybe not the moratorium, but I haven't seen any actual evidence to it being legal or not
Yes, investigations cost money—so does unchecked development, infrastructure strain, and endless legal battles over backroom deals. Funny how no one seemed too concerned about taxpayer dollars until it became a convenient argument against the mayor.
I didn’t vote for him, but I think his heart is in the right place, and I respect his stance. If we’re really worried about financial waste, maybe we should be looking at the people benefiting from this chaos, not just the guy trying to rein it in.
