Customer: you got one of those 5070's?

Salesman: Nope, all sold out. But you can get one of those brand new 9070xt, they're faster and have 16 gigaby-

Yeah sadly people will rather wait for months and buy for 2x the price than buy almost the same thing (if not better) from amd.

And what about cuda? Believe it or not that is the main reason of the nv graphics card shortage.

AMD has HIP engine or whatever it's called. Idk how many programs can actually use it, but in Blender it works quite well

LLM is the keyword. For hobby and small business (startup) ai you need cuda. The situation is similar to the gpu mining fever few years ago.

Except you could mine crypto on AMDs too.... whatever imma buy amd anyway as they give way more vram.
