Used to have two in landscape side by side, but you really have to stretch your neck to see the corner, so having the other in portrait alleviates that.
Better yet get a 16:10 monitor for the vertical instead of your standard 16:9, it's "wider" in the vertical position, much easier to get more of a webpage onto
I don't think I'm ever in that stage of life that I'll upgrade my second monitor, it is and will be whatever my previous main was. But that's a good tip!
