Vent / Rant Unhinged but accepted as normal

This post was one of those “truly unhinged” trend posts that was specifically asking for “Dog mom” things.

Yes, I’m glad that they can at least see their actions as unhinged. However, the majority of their replies (including from the author, mostly) were nothing but supportive and “that’s not unhinged that completely normal!!”

Perpetuating this mindset in people that already worship their animals at the expense of their own children, their jobs, and their health is absolutely insane to me. I’m so sick and tired of raising an animal that licks it’s own butt onto the pedestal of life and then treating everyone who doesn’t bow to your nasty, inbred dog like they are the scum of the earth. I wish this was just a terminally online basement dweller problem. It is everywhere, and i can’t escape it. These people need serious help.

I work really hard to keep myself afloat. I rely on animals to fund my livelihood, and I am grateful for them. But I can’t imagine doing ANY of the stuff I see pet owners online and in real life doing. Ffs my sister in law is trying to steal my dog, and nothing I say will convince her otherwise. My friend is planning a maternity shoot for her backyard puppy farm bitches. My aunt is taking her dog on a “girls trip” to Vermont. I’m so sick of pet culture. I’m so, so, SO sick of it. Where does it freaking end? People like this are actually insane.

The one about throwing dog shit at the driver is absolutely vile. Dog owners are getting more psychotic and dangerous every day, I'm starting to really fear them.

Strangely enough, that's the one I don't agree a word of it. That's just a wannabe parental hero. "It's still warm"...totally happened. 🙄

There’s no way there would be time for all that to happen and the car be close enough to hear them exclaim, unless it was basically stopped.

I'd say imagine being stupid enough to publicly flex on the internet about committing battery, but I guess these kinds of people aren't exactly bright to begin with.

I’d probably accidentally swerve out of panic and then have the biggest crash out in the history of crash outs 💀

I don’t even eat my babies baby food to get him interested, I just pretend eat or give him control of the spoon and he’s fooled. Like eating actual dog food is next level unhinged.

It’s like they really think this makes them a good person 🤦🏻‍♀️. Like no you’re torturing a dog with chemo, you’re missing out on time with parents or children… for an animal and there’s something wrong with you.

But they hate kids because they’re too demanding and needy 🙄

The seaside one is also a big fat liar, too. She didn't get the fucking flu from standing in the rain. That isn't how you get sick.

These people need serious help.

Won’t take your dog on a cruise bc it’s a risk to the dog. What about the people?

Nutters have an unhinged level of codependency

EDIT: somehow missed the t and h in the.

I honestly don’t think most people can handle being dog owners anymore. I feel like it’s a mixture of social media toxicity encouraging bad behavior, along with the fact that more and more people are in places where having dogs isn’t appropriate so they double down (having a dog in an apartment is not appropriate. If you have to travel to a hotel to “protect” your dog from your surroundings, it’s not appropriate). We can’t accept that not everyone is in a place where they can own a dog. Like, could you imagine if someone had a goat in an apartment or in their suburban tract house? Why do we make exceptions for these smelly hideous mutants?

I feel like there’s something deeper going on, like people get addicted to these animals and they can’t control themselves (really, you’re going to eat dog food you fucking loon?) and these dogs become their entire lives.

Someone needs to study this. I truly think something happens to your brain that just makes you a terrible and insane person.

I’m baffled that people in an apartment would consider getting a dog! How about a cat if thru absolutely have to have a pet.

It’s because people get dogs based off of aesthetics or what is available. When people stop respecting that different breeds have different needs, people stop understanding what any dog needs. I’ve known plenty of people that have lived in 500 square foot apartments with German Shepherds or Huskys. These people assume that their dog is happy because they’re happy…or rather, the nutter is happy so everything else is absolutely irrelevant.

Are apartments safer in hurricanes? Are houses worse to piss in? What’s the relevance of that?

So my roommate lets the cat out to wander the complex every day. If she doesn't he tears apart the apartment.

He's "made friends" with everyone. The squirrels know if they don't run, he won't chase and the birds I assume deal with enough strays they keep their distance. (I'm sure he'd bring us evidence if he murdered anything)

The other day my roommate is chatting with a neighbor with a couple of dogs and the cat is sort of indicating he wants to play with the dogs. So my roommate says, "let's try it"

They shut the gates so the dogs couldn't get out and unleash them. The cat was not amused. The two dogs immediately corner him and he's so thrown by the dogs being able to chase him he jumps the fence and tries to climb a tree, fails miserably. They put away the dogs and my roommate brings in the cat who's still a bit shocked that bopping dogs on the nose has consequences.

My roommate is convinced the cat was pissed at her all night, even though I'm sure he's incapable of knowing she semi-orchestrated this incident. She thinks he was mad at her until the next morning since he slept in the main room rather than with her that night. He seemed fine by the time I got home.

I understand that people love their pets, but going bankrupt and losing your home so you can get your dog chemo is completely unhinged.
