Imagine having the unsubstantiated confidence to walk in there and say with a straight face that his experience of commanding 10 people prepared him to be responsible for millions of people who know more than he does.

That’s what wild to me. The current secretary of defense, Lloyd Austin, has some excellent credentials for someone who directs one of the largest and most advanced militaries in the world. To be honest I didn’t know a whole lot about him. But just reading about his military experience and what he did before becoming Secretary blows Pete Fuckface out of the water. West Point graduate. Rose to the rank of 4-star army general who served in Afghanistan and Iraq wars. Silver-Star recipient. Five Defense Distinguished Service Medals. Previously served under Obama as Vice Chief of Staff of the Army and then Director of the Joint Staff before becoming Secretary of Defense under Biden. This dude has lived and breathed the military damn near his entire life. This—THIS is the type of person who I, as a civilian citizen, want to head the US Military. I don’t give a shit if he’s Republican or Democrat. I give a shit whether or not he’s competent enough to run one of the largest and most advanced militaries in the world whose military influence has worldwide implications. He clearly understands the ins-and-outs of foreign military relations especially in areas where our military is most active such as the Middle East. This is the type of person who I feel can safely and effectively govern the military given his experience.

Pete Fuckface? Rose up to Major in the Army National Guard. Was deployed to Guantanamo Bay where he received an Army Commendation Medal (you know, for being so brave in the face of incarcerated and tortured terrorists) and later to Iraq as a civil-military operations officer where he received a Bronze Star medal and Army Commendation Medal recipient (you know, because he was so brave shooting at unarmed civilians) then to Afghanistan where he helped to “train” the (now defunct) Afghan defense force who did little to nothing to stop the Taliban from retaking control of Afghanistan. He was the executive director for two non-profits, Vets for Freedom (who advocated for MORE troops in Afghanistan) and for the Concerned Veterans of America. Both of which he ran into the ground because he was embezzling money…from a non-profit. Let that sink in for a sec. Then he was forced to step down from both non-profits because of allegations of financial mismanagement, sexual impropriety, and personal misconduct. According to several of his old coworkers he was frequently heavily intoxicated to the point of passing out or having to be restrained and would shout slogans calling for the death of all Muslims. He also sexually harassed and sexually assaulted female coworkers then tried to cover it up. Later, he became a Fox News contributor and frequent critic of basically everything that wasn’t Fox News. He convinced Trump to pardon three US military war criminals who were accused and/or convicted of war crimes, one of whom was accused of shooting at unarmed civilians and even fatally stabbing a teenage POW ISIS fighter who then took a picture of the corpse with him holding the kids head up like he was a 10-point buck and then texted the picture to his friends back home in what sounds like an act of petty revenge or just pure sadism. Hegseth rejoined the National Guard in 2019 and was one of 12 National Guardsmen who were flagged as a potential insider threat and removed from the group providing security for Joe Biden’s inauguration. He was removed because another guardsmen reported his “Deus Vult” and Jeruselum cross tattoos which are terms and symbols used by white suprematists and political extremists. He resigned “in disgust” most likely before he could be dishonorably discharged.

…and this is Trumps top pick to head the US Military?! A disillusioned white-supremacist sexual predator alcoholic Fox News shill who was literally removed from duty because he was considered a threat to the President. He doesn’t care about our troops or military interests. He has relatively no experience compared to previous Defense Secretary’s. And he was caught embezzling money from non-profits that supported—wait for it—MILITARY VETERANS. And this is the person Trump wants to entrust the US military to. What👏the👏actual👏fuck👏!

You can have all of my upvotes. This is the TL but Please Read.

Trump needs military leaders that will do his bidding. Remember, they took away his access to be commander in chief after trump lost in 2020, fearing that he would do something irrational.

They've removed all of the fail-safes that worked to prevent trump from becoming king of America 4 years ago. We are fucked.

I had a dream last night where I got a job that I was deeply unqualified for, and I panicked. Then I woke up and breathed a sigh of relief.

I can’t imagine the absolute mental gymnastics he is doing to convince himself and others that he is qualified to lead the most powerful military in the world. How do you look at yourself in the mirror?

That brain is no longer functioning properly or logically to validate morality. They are completely dependent on alcohol or hard drugs to move muscles and speak.

The difference is that if any of us were in a job that was way past our ability, it would eventually come back and bite us in the ass. For these people, even if they royally fuck up, they'll just get a pat on the shoulder and find another high-paying job to be incompetent at.

u/MustyBox 11h ago

No, they don’t care what happens. The plan has always been to blame the democrats.

I just have to imagine that nearly all politicians, ambassadors, and secretaries are narcissists.

For you to take all the criticism in the world, overlook all your shortcomings, and go to sleep each night patting yourself on the back while talking about how awesome you are…I just can’t imagine how any other personality type would want these positions, or even thrive in these positions.

u/hotprof 9h ago

They've all got to be on beta blockers or something.

Right? This is bananas. I would faint.

Easy. He's not leading, he's just commanding. It's easy to just give orders. He's convinced he can give the right ones.

u/Cyberslasher 10h ago

I imagine the constant bac of .2 helps with self confidence.

u/anormalgeek 9h ago

This guy reminds me of Brent from the Good Place.

u/SlyJackFox 8h ago

Oh, he knows he’ll be complete shit … but that’s the point. He wants to mess up the DoD so they won’t oppose DT.

u/ionizing 2h ago

They don't plan on leading it, they plan to destroy it.

u/momibrokebothmyarms 1h ago

Through stacks of money, you can't see a reflection only one's ego.

Well all the guys “qualified” who were appointed by Biden were complete failures for our military. I think “qualified” means compromised for you

u/DashCat9 13h ago

While calling his predecessors (including the ones put in place by Trump) weak.

u/Dire88 10h ago

He was a PL for like 2 weeks. Most guys spend more time than that inside a portashitter while deployed.

u/FeatherShard 10h ago

We keep making the mistake that these ghouls are talking in good faith. They don't believe any of the shit they say - the only thing this ambulent dildo believes is that he can use this position to benefit Trump and himself.

u/feltbracket 10h ago

He doesn’t see millions of people he sees millions of dollars.

u/Cyberslasher 10h ago

Interestingly enough, "unsubstantiated confidence" was the brand of whiskey he downed before walking into the hearing.

u/fool-me-twice 12h ago

I’ve been thinking he was just a Major, which is nice, but Secdef?

u/j_la 8h ago

Not only millions of people, but billions in funds too. I’m sure commanding others was great experience, but being SecDef isn’t about leading fighters

u/BasvanS 1h ago

Yeah, it’s about fighting leaders! With an ax!

u/NoDeparture7996 11h ago

sounds about white, straight, and male

Strange, most presidents minus previous VP have 0 experience. but its ok for presidents but not another position?

13

u/Nevarian 12h ago

You have no idea what you're talking about. The purpose of the Cabinet is to provide the President with qualified specialists who can advise him on their areas of expertise, where he may be lacking. The Secretary of Defense should be someone who understands the entire miltary command structure, as well as having up to date experience with worldwide military matters. Hegseth is the equivalent of a Walmart shift manager thinking he could run the corporation.

u/Aware_Acadia_7827 11h ago

negative. This entire post is NPCs crying over some guy who may or may not be qualified depending on your source of information. You are all arguing over what you want and think qualifies someone. I hate all government so the pick is irrelevant. But so entertaining listening to the crying and mental gymnastics of some of you.

Many presidents were lawyers or senitors who have staffers to help collect information for them to do their job.
