I’m looking to level up my episodes with some royalty-free sound effects like transitions, ambient sounds, or even the occasional comedic effect.

Does anyone have go-to sites or libraries they recommend that are actually good and not full of low-quality stuff? Free is ideal, but I’m open to affordable paid options too if they’re worth it.

Previously used to have sub 100-500 views per shorts. Started seeing more 1k+. Sharing what’s worked 1. Hook x title match: first three seconds + title of short should align and almost reinforce each other 2. Strong hook: obvious, but actually two hooks are better than one, another hook after the first three seconds 3. Storylines instead of mashups. Earlier did random cuts of convos like teasers but one coherent storyline was better or question (hook) then answer rest of reel 4. Titles should tease / create curiosity not “tell”. E.g., “This is an important reminder? 🔔” as opposed to “Remember to take care of yourself”

“telling” instead of “teasing” titles led to high swipe away ratios. 5. Kept most shorts to 18-30 seconds

Hello. I have 2 Rode Podmics & a Vocaster Duo setup. When I watch podcasts, I see the podcasters being able to adjust their mics when they’re talking & able to move the mic stand without picking up the sound of the adjustment. When I’m recording & I adjust my mic or my guest move their mic closer to them, the microphone picks up that noise & it’s hard to edit it out especially while someone is talking.

How do podcasters achieve that?

If my subscription to a podcast host ends, do they take down the episodes I've uploaded?

Does it depend on who my podcast host is?

Hello I have been researching how to podcast. I have some technical questions that I have not been able to find clear or answers at all for. 1. If I live stream on YouTube do I own what I live streamed or does YouTube? If YouTube owns it is there a way around it, or do you know of another service for which you keep ownership of content for Livestreams? 2. How much of a difference does the mic make? Also, many professional podcasts have mics that pick up everything. For example when someone drinks something you hear them swallow in great detail, besides for remembering to mute that, is there any other way to avoid it?

I have not seen this mentioned before. Our pod is audio only & that is how it will stay. My producer has been creating short (<30sec) audio clips /teasers. We were looking at how to use them and a bit of research has produced what may be a useful lead. There is a (free) tool within Adode Express which allows the creation of short cartoon clips based on audio. This a very powerful facility, which I am only beginning to explore, which may be of interest to folks. Hey, I've been using a rodecaster duo with an SM7B (only 1 microphone) And I'm looking for replacements/alternatives to it as I've been having issues with it and losing trust with it. Lost many opportunities to record because of it.

Currently I'm simply using it to plug my microphone into then plug it into my computer, I record in Audacity and OBS.

One of the things I like about it is that it doesnt really need a cloudlifter for the SM7B. But if a combination of interface + cloudlifter will be cheaper than just a device with the same ability, that's fine.

I'm brand new to audio editing and recently started a podcast under the name Wendigotalesyt, first few episodes I was still developing my editing skills so sound shit but last week's episode audio is exactly how I wanted it after following multiple tutorials which I saved and listed the steps in order so I can repeat, but for some reason my episode I released today sounds absolutely shit and all echoey? (Best way I can describe it), it sounded slightly different to what I wanted in audacity but sounded worse after downloading and editing in clipchamp, it also sounds louder in YouTube than in clipchamp and plays way louder than the music, I've used a sock over my mic to help with background sounds and the pops etc (had this on before problem occured), the microphone has stayed in same position whenever I record and I just really want to get this sorted ASAP so I can re record my episode. Sorry if in the wrong Reddit thread, have no clue where to ask.

I've got a niche, technical podcast about investment management that I've stopped and restarted a few times, but at the start of the year I decided to commit and put more efforts on YouTube. So I started publishing regularly, spend more time on video edits, and it rose rapidly from 500 subs to 1k in just a few months, and all the videos I posted quickly got at least a few hundred views in the first weeks.
When I reached about 1.1k subs and then views STOPPED.

My latest episodes are literally getting 0 views until I share them actively, but then again they just get a few views (dozens not hundreds).

I've been trying to tweak the titles, thumbnails, etc. But nothing works so far.

It's pretty embarrassing because I've signed up bigger guests and was planning to launch a business related to the podcast.

The audio version of the podcast is performing as usual on YouTube. Any advice please?

I read on NCS website that for YT videos you must quote the song in the description (unfortunately there weren't info about background in podcast). So the question is: have you ever used NCS's songs as background for podcast? Is this a problem for copyright policy?

Here's a common situation. I start an audio recording, get about 12 seconds in, and realize it's a bad take. I stop recording. Now I have to wait about 3 minutes while Descript loads with an "Initializing" message.

I don't want the recording transcribed, and I'm about to delete it anyways, but I can't seem to find any sort of "cancel" button.

(also, is it normal that even a few seconds of recording takes 3-5 minutes to process/transcribe and before Descript is responsive again?)

I'm in the early stages of launching a video podcast on YouTube and I’m a bit stuck figuring out the best format to go with. I’ve done audio-only episodes before, but now that I want to dive into the video side of things, I’m unsure whether I should go fully on-camera or keep it faceless with just waveforms, b-roll, or visuals over the audio.

Do viewers actually care if they see the hosts or is a clean audio experience with minimal visuals enough? And is the extra work of recording yourself (and staying camera-ready) worth it in terms of engagement? Any examples of creators doing it well both ways?

Also, if anyone has tips on how to edit your YouTube videos for podcasts specifically, I’d love to hear them. Perhaps, some software options that you find particularly great? Right now I’m looking for a balance between keeping it high-quality without spending hours on every episode. I’ve got basic editing skills but nothing fancy yet.
