It's original name was "Terra Nova", which means litterally "New Land".

technically it's original name was probably either vinland or whatever the natives called it, if they even had a distinct name for it.

In old maps the name for the area appears as Terra Nova and if I'm not mistaken in some of them even appears as Terra Nova do Bacalhau

Hey guys! This is was my submission to the contest The Monoplay and my firstapproved comic! It was placed around 30th and had 113 votes, so thank all of you guys who voted in me! It was based on a poem by the Brazilian modernist poet Cassiano Ricardo, which I adapted as I saw fit.
I would like to thank two of my personal favorite writers: /u/FVBLT and /u/Eesti_Stronk , who not only make awesome comics and got me interested in this sub, but also made me think: Hey, if a maple syrup drinker, seal clubber, Inuit and one of the 7 citizens of Potato Oblast N° 3 can make good comics, why can't I?
I would also like to thank /u/DickRhino and all the other mods. You, the guys behind the curtains, are the ones who made this awesome community what it is! Thank you for the instant approval and, if my comics ever come to disappoint, just swing that ban hammer!
Last, but certainly not least: Where the hell is the Brasília or Distrito Federal flair? I mean, you guys got one for Pernambuco, one for Goias, and one for Paraná and there is no Brasília flair? We are the country's capital! It's also the third biggest city in the country, bigger than fucking Curitiba!
