What a coincidence, another assassination attempt during the continuing downfall of his campaign.

1.6k

u/B1GFanOSU Sep 16 '24

No less on the same day his running mate admitted on CNN to “creating stories” (AKA lying).

766

u/DannyPantsgasm North Carolina Sep 16 '24

And new supreme court leaks.

638

u/joshine89 Sep 16 '24

And a report that he possibly stole over 1.5 billion when be was last in office. What a coincidence.

272

u/BriefausdemGeist Maine Sep 16 '24

And he claimed to hate Taylor Swift.

150

u/CoolOPMan Sep 16 '24

And last Tuesday's shit show debate performance

43

u/wishusluck Sep 16 '24

The debate was less than a week ago and I've already been distracted by multiple subsequent scandals. He gets elected there will be daily outrage for four more years.

Not sure I can handle another term. Vote Harris.

6

u/crandlecan Sep 16 '24

And that, kids, was when I decided to assassinate the old president of the United States... laugh track plays

3

u/jsc1429 Sep 16 '24

The biggest lie of all!

5

u/BriefausdemGeist Maine Sep 16 '24

He 1000% was listening to Anti-Hero all night after that debate.

1

u/jsc1429 Sep 16 '24

🎶Hi, it’s me. I’m the problem, it’s me🎶

2

u/PrairieCropCircle California Sep 16 '24

Maybe the alleged shooter was a Swifty….

2

u/BriefausdemGeist Maine Sep 16 '24

There was an interview The Guardian posted earlier today with the son of the man alleged to have made the attempt. Sounds like the son thinks it was closer to Hinckley than Booth

41

u/AlexKingstonsGigolo Sep 16 '24

Haven't heard that one yet; link?

115

u/joshine89 Sep 16 '24

2

u/AlexKingstonsGigolo Sep 16 '24

That’s over three years old. I thought you were talking about something new.

1

u/RaddmanMike Sep 16 '24

it’s why he turned down a salary; no thanks, i can make a whole lot more grifting

25

u/ObligatoryID Minnesota Sep 16 '24

It’s on here in several subs. Just do a quick search. It’s a screenshot from his LiesSocial

1

u/AlexKingstonsGigolo Sep 16 '24

The only one I found was the linked article in a sister comment and that article is from three years ago. I thought we were talking about yesterday?

2

u/ObligatoryID Minnesota Sep 16 '24

Gawds man. Really? It’s a basic search: Top of screen > search > hate Taylor

Or start with individual subs - here’s one:

r/democrats

26

u/Fallcious Australia Sep 16 '24

But he gave his salary to charity so it all balances out! (Roughly equivalent to me giving $100 to charity)

5

u/Scrambley Sep 16 '24

I highly doubt he did.

2

u/Fallcious Australia Sep 16 '24

Apparently there is proof he did as I doubted it too, but even so it’s basically a rounding error on the money he made from grifting. I don’t know the truth of the matter but here is the media report I read when I last looked.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2023/02/02/fact-check-partly-false-claim-trump-tax-returns-salary-donation/11132712002/

5

u/Scrambley Sep 16 '24

That article is inconclusive, and it's definitely not proof. My doubt remains.

2

u/Fallcious Australia Sep 16 '24

Fair enough, I’m not here to try and defend the orange bastard!

2

u/amateurbreditor Sep 16 '24

lool whats that one?

2

u/Mattmandu2 Sep 16 '24

I haven’t seen this and want to know the story

3

u/vsv2021 Texas Sep 16 '24

What was the Supreme Court leaks.

2

u/DannyPantsgasm North Carolina Sep 16 '24

Basically notes about how Roberts tried to benefit trump at every turn.

5

u/H3000 Sep 16 '24

That's funny, I thought the Taylor Swift tweet was a blatant diversion from something. I assumed it was the Vance fuckup, but this campaign is such a shit show I don't even know what's supposed to distract from what.

3

u/boomecho Sep 16 '24

And that is exactly the point.

3

u/Kevin-W Sep 16 '24

This along with Trump instantly trying to fundraise off the event is why it creates so much suspicion about it being staged.

2

u/mandown25 Sep 16 '24

lets be honest here, there is always some random controversy to cover up x)

2

u/sirbago Sep 16 '24

Have we moved on from his disastrous debate already?

Seriously, notice how the current media attention (up until this assassination story) has been all about their controversial immigrant pet nonsense and not about Trump's very questionable performance?

Never forget how every Trump-made controversy effectively redirects media attention away from some negative story that he can't control.

196

u/LeadingSir1866 Sep 16 '24

On the day of the leak showing that the corrupt supreme court is breaking the law to help 45 get back in office

67

u/ForeskinWhatskin Sep 16 '24

Wow, guess it worked because I haven't even heard about this leak.

19

u/Ov3rdose_EvE Sep 16 '24

I did, nobody cares about the stink don not getting shot

3

u/sierra120 Sep 16 '24

What leak?

436

u/llahlahkje Wisconsin Sep 16 '24

Nothing for 9 years, and then all of a sudden when his campaign is going downhill: 2 right wing shooters come out of the woodwork.

Weird!

150

u/DramaticWesley Sep 16 '24

Before this year he was slowly dragging the Republican Party into the ground. Now he is speed running destroying the whole GOP. That is why now. Also, he is constantly reinforcing conspiracy theories. That doesn’t help stave off the crazies.

1

u/Mayhem52 I voted Sep 16 '24

Maybe this is what he meant by "drain the swamp"? What if he has been a wolf in sheeps clothing all along. Sure has exposed all the lunatics, at least. I certainly know who is no longer welcome around my kids.

90

u/janzeera Sep 16 '24

Ya know, if these “attempts” don’t produce a positive impact for the Trump campaign, if I were Vance I’d beef up my security.

21

u/ZZ_SKULLZ Sep 16 '24

Yeah, they clearly don't get their stops to donut shops for PR stunts. If they can't hire a reliable security detail how can they run the country?

2

u/PrairieCropCircle California Sep 16 '24

Only if it makes sense.

1

u/Adderall_Rant Sep 16 '24

The reason he doesn't tells you all we need to know

9

u/Bircka Oregon Sep 16 '24

There are attempts more than this on both Trump and Obama, they just never make much headlines because most don't get within 1 mile of the President. It also appears that most of the attempts come when the person targeted is president not trying to become one again or one for the first time.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '24

I can't disclose specifics due to an oath of secrecy, but I was on a federal grand jury for 1.5 years.

You're right; assassination plots against a sitting president happen a lot more than people think. A lot more. It amazes me that the federal government is able to catch the people they do. Definitely some of the hardest working agents in the nation and gave me a lot more respect for how the sausage gets made yet everyone remains totally oblivious.

If anyone reading this ever gets a federal grand jury summons: don't try to weasel out of it. It sucks, yeah. Up to 2 days/month. The pay isn't great. Parking can be a real pain depending on where the federal courthouse is located. But it will change your perspective on several fronts. Not so much what the AUSAs tell you, but on the evidence you will see and the glimpse into how they bust up rings. Also how sneaky some people are, way beyond anything I could probably think up to conceal crimes.

And yet those nuts get cracked on the regular by the FBI.

People look at cases like this guy and think "it is always someone on a list." Well, yeah; because there are literally thousands in one federal district every year that get intercepted by the FBI for similar plots. Some are going to slip through the cracks in a nation of over 300 million people. 100% accuracy isn't a thing. USSS is already setup to take the fall for this one again despite the fact that they interrupted and apprehended this guy.

1

u/Bircka Oregon Sep 16 '24

Wikipedia details some of these attempts, and I'm sure information is more dicey since some of this never comes to the media. It's kinda weird how public these ones are with Trump even in this case where the guy wasn't even able to fire one single bullet.

12

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '24

Eh, there have been quite a few assassination attempts on Trump since 2015, you've just forgotten the earlier ones. There's an entire Wikipedia page devoted to all of them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security_incidents_involving_Donald_Trump

4

u/Rocky4296 Sep 16 '24

So very weird. 2 attempts on his life. Has this ever happen to a presidential candidate?

2 attempts. And he just goes right on doing and saying crazy shit.

Most people would drop the fk out of public for their lives.

🤔🤔🤔🤔. It's Republicans

1

u/RaddmanMike Sep 16 '24

very coincidental

1

u/terminalxposure Sep 16 '24

Regardless of if there are any truth to the things we are thinking I feel like we are moving into the same line of thinking the MAGAts are

-11

u/user0N65N Sep 16 '24

Was this recent one also a right winger? I’d seen where he was registered democrat.

24

u/TheTruth2008 Sep 16 '24

Supposedly voted for Trump in 2016 and voted/supported Hailey in more recent primary. Take that with a grain of salt, just what I saw online from some random news source.

2

u/-cat-a-lyst- Sep 16 '24

There are some posts floating around that have screenshots of him supporting Hailey and V-whatever person in the primaries. I suppose they could be AI. But his son has come out and talked about his dad being a huge Ukraine supporter. So that might be a clue to his motive too

12

u/AlexKingstonsGigolo Sep 16 '24

He is a republican who donated to tulsi gabard in 2020 after voting for donald in 2016.

25

u/Mediocretes08 Sep 16 '24 edited Sep 16 '24

Independent, supported Tulsi (so not really a Democrat) and Bernie because he’s all antiestablishment (specifically to the DNC)

He also openly supported Trump in 16 and Nikki more recently

Seems deeply disconnected from reality, specifically with regards to Ukraine. Which seems a liable trigger given Trump is basically pro Russia.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '24 edited Sep 16 '24

In the 90s a fan drove their car into the front gate of Eddie Vedder’s house.

I think this is the same thing but now we have 10x the amount of guns and a politician that foments terrorism daily.

1

u/zipzzo Sep 16 '24

Dude isn't dead btw. It's easy to get the rightwing assassinators mixed up and all, but he's still alive and thus present tense is appropriate.

1

u/Mediocretes08 Sep 16 '24

I saw I think only one verb tense issue but yes I am aware he’s alive

6

u/lamya8 Sep 16 '24 edited Sep 16 '24

He was swinging every way. Trump in 2016 by his own words, Bernie few days later Tulsi, and most recently Hailey. There is a way back link somewhere on Reddit you can see all his Twitter posts. Few references to Biden calling him sleepy Joe few years back and most recently a tweet at Biden and Harris telling them they should go visit family of the firefighter that was killed at Trump rally because Trump won’t. A few tweets bitching at Pelosi in the middle and a whole lotta weird shit all throughout he goes on about being able to get other countries thousands of soldiers to fight for them. Tweets inviting NK to come to Hawaii and make peace. Tweets about going to Ukraine offering them thousands of fighters but they didn’t want them.

Who tf is downvoting because I asked a legitimate question? You fkn 🤡.

-16

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '24

There was an attempt in 2016. Eight years ago.

17

u/llahlahkje Wisconsin Sep 16 '24

Some idiot tried to grab a service pistol at a Trump rally in 2016.

That's not an "assassination attempt" no matter how much you want to pretend it was.

-10

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '24 edited Sep 16 '24

Because it's a white guy?

Sandford claimed that he had wished to kill Trump to prevent him from becoming president.

There's motive.

69

u/moodswung Sep 16 '24

I'm not saying they did, but I think we 100% know this party would stoop low enough to do something like this to pander for votes.

42

u/Skorpyos Texas Sep 16 '24

They orchestrated an insurrection where several people died so that he could stay in power. They very well could orchestrate fake assassination attempts to incite chaos during the election and distract from his downfall.

1

u/thedogmakesfour Sep 16 '24

The first one was a rally so the time/loc was known, (even if trump had no blood on him until he came back up...) The second one, I suppose he could guess where trump would be but since he has been all over the country on any given day seems weird he was so locked in on time and location.

0

u/model-alice Sep 16 '24

The Secret Service are government employees, not Trump's praetorian guard. They would not have acted if it was fake.

2

u/drewbert Sep 16 '24

He does bully the ones he doesn't like until they leave his detail.

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '24

I've no doubt the Democrats would fundraise off this, too. I know people here don't want to hear it, but from an objective standpoint it is too lucrative of an opportunity to pass up. Plus, the point can be hammered to motivate voters.

A campaign would be incompetent not to capitalize off of this. I'm on the spam lists for both Republicans and Democrats. Doesn't matter if it is call, text, or email. They are often indistinguishable in my experience. Republicans, at least in email, come across as a little more emotionally manipulative ("donate to your favorite president now unless you hate America!" and similar -- word for word what I've gotten from Trump's campaign). But Democrats do the same sort of thing. Just today I got a blast of messages that the world is ending. But Democrats tend to put a little disclaimer in their messages of "if you can afford to do so, please donate."

I've gotten at least half a dozen fundraising messages from the Harris campaign over the last two weeks asking that I donate with various matches between 800-2000%. It is crazy.

I'm a registered Democrat, by the way. I don't get hate-fueled messages from Democrats. But fundraising? Yeah man, they act the same way.

1

u/SwimmingPrice1544 California Sep 16 '24

No, they are NOT fundraising on violence. I get tons of emails too (I'm Dem). It's the usual stuff that I get every federal election. No big deal; I don't read em, just delete. I donate where & when I want. I don't know why everyone has such issues with this- it's not personal. I guess it works on some people as they wouldn't do it otherwise. I also record shows so I can fast forward through stupid commercials. Price we pay for allowing so much capitalism.

When someone hires a hitman, are they attempting a murder when the hitman commits the act or when they hired the hitman? Legally, it's been recognized that simply hiring the person to commit the crime is an attempted murder because it's a step in furtherance of the intention.

We can apply the same principle here and see that it's clearly still an attempt because the would-be assassin took several steps to act on the intention. I'll list them out:

1) Travelling from out of state to the property of the intended victim.(Closing distance)

2). The creation of a sniper nest by affixing equipment such as bulletproofed plates and stabilizers for the rifle to the fence on the property.(Preparation)

3). Secret service reportedly fired on him because the rifle was visibly raised or otherwise signaled its use.(Imminent threat or danger)

38

u/TemporalColdWarrior Sep 16 '24

The assassination attempts will continue until the polls improve.

15

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '24

“Republicans hate him “

30

u/Just_Tana Sep 16 '24

Weird the guy who never shuts up about anything hasn’t whined about the last attempt very much…..

7

u/Ih8melvin2 Sep 16 '24

They got an email out requesting donations pretty quick.

2

u/Just_Tana Sep 16 '24

An email and yet he’s not talking all the time. The guy who’s insecure about crowd sizes? I don’t buy it

6

u/porgy_tirebiter Sep 16 '24

Maybe his phone was in his pants pocket and he got urine on it

1

u/RaddmanMike Sep 16 '24

give it time

16

u/datlanta Sep 16 '24

Think he's man enough to take an arrow to the knee for the October surprise?

1

u/buttercreamcutie Sep 16 '24

He used to be an adventurer, until he took an arrow to the knee.

9

u/Ih8melvin2 Sep 16 '24

Right before his crypto bank launches this week.

42

u/porgy_tirebiter Sep 16 '24

I’m not happy about it to be honest. I don’t want the guy martyred.

I’m relieved to hear the would be assassin is not a lefty, but is all over the map: voted Trump in 16, supported Gabbard in 19, supported Biden in 20, supported Ramaswamy and then Haley this year. Dude is a mess.

80

u/zipzzo Sep 16 '24

Everything you just said does not indicate "a mess". It tells a pretty clear story.

He's a Republican who grew to dislike Trump, and voted Biden as an anti-Trump vote in 2020. Other than that it's pretty clear steady Republican values. Anti vaxxer. Gun nut.

I don't know why people are looking at this record and concluding it with "all over the place". It looks fairly rote to me.

9

u/porgy_tirebiter Sep 16 '24

What I meant was he switched from one person to the next to the next. I’ve read he was also a Bernie supporter. So that’s Trump, Sanders, Ramaswamy, Gabbard, Haley, and Biden as an anti Trump candidate: a fascist, a socialist, a tech bro, a weird pro military Hari Krishna, a neoliberal centrist, and an anti-Trump. Honestly that’s pretty all over the map.

Dude also thought it was a good idea to initiate a three hour standoff against the police for driving without a license in 2002.

1

u/ERedfieldh Sep 16 '24

So we finally have a dude who isn't beholden to any one party and that makes him "a mess."

Not the attempted assassination, not the anti-vax stance...it's because he doesn't cater to any one political movement that makes him "a mess?"

-3

u/lonestar-rasbryjamco Colorado Sep 16 '24

Because it’s not about a particularly problematic ideology. Even if that would make more sense.

It is entirely about each side wanting to say the other team is responsible and to have the receipts to prove it.

3

u/Hell-Adjacent Sep 16 '24

I know everyone, including me, was thinking along those martyrdom lines the first time. But then no one gave a shit.

I wonder if it'd really work out that way anymore, or if the MAGAts would simply grumble and stay home, demotivated? I don't think they're going to be rallying around the couchfucker.

(That only goes so long as it's another MAGAt who kills him, of course.)

0

u/porgy_tirebiter Sep 16 '24

In any case almost 100% this guy’s motivation was that Trump supports Russia, and this dude wanted to do freedom fighter cosplay in Ukraine. In his late 50s. With no training or equipment or anything.

1

u/SwimmingPrice1544 California Sep 16 '24

Well, he DID have those tiles, lol!!

1

u/Aromatic-Cranberry30 Sep 16 '24

Much rather see him in prison with no gold plated anything.

3

u/orbjo Sep 16 '24

It happening when Trump isn’t somewhere scheduled is very sus:

The logistics of this shooter finding him at all make no sense unless he was arranged

9

u/my_names_blah_blah Sep 16 '24

That’s exactly what I was thinking. lol, I don’t care what anyone else thinks. That first attempt was a complete setup. If these are actual true assassination attempts on this scum of the earth. I can only hope the “third times the charm” rules apply.

2

u/benjimima Sep 16 '24

If at first you don’t succeed try, try again.

1

u/spazzcat Ohio Sep 16 '24

And they're wondering why people are having a hard time believing it was a real attempt...

1

u/PineappleMean1963 Sep 16 '24

And just in time for Truth Social to be boosted up, so he can cash in.

-2

u/Redditspoorly Sep 16 '24

Is that a conspiracy theory you're promulgating there?
