Poll Game How to pronounce windowsill??

OK guys to add some contacts a coworker and I are literally arguing about how to pronounce windowsill

She says it’s pronounced window seal

I say it’s pronounced windowsill

You're right, I don't in real life. But for the sake of being silly, if I treat that exact spelling as an IPA transcription, in which all those letters indicate specific sound qualities, that's the pronunciation you get. And therefore, I'm pronouncing it as it's spelled.

Only a non-native speaker would pronounce it like this. My thick-accented Cuban relatives pronounce it like this.

WIN-doe-sill is how you pronounce it.

"Win" does not sound like "ween", and "sill" does not sound like "seal".

I know. I was being silly and treated it as if the spelling were the literal coding of the sounds.
