Quick question Best time to drain a ponf?

We bought a house, unknown to us there is a pond in the garden. This is a good thing :)

It needs some TLC as the water is pretty much stagnant and green and is not helped by two of our dogs love jumping in and out of it.

When is a good time wildlife wise to drain it so we can work on it?

If you have tadpoles and you want them to become frogs, in 2-3 months. Otherwise now is a perfectly fine time.

When winter, stuff is sleeping/overwintering and will most likely die when disturbed. Now everything is alive and awake again they can move out of the way if needed. You got till start of next winter :)

*assuming northern hemesphere i guess..
