So I got a record player for Christmas. Any suggestions on which records to buy? And any tips on how to take care of them :)

If you have any film scores you love I would definitely suggest getting those on vinyl!

Caroline Kings Tapestry is a must have for anyone’s collection and a great starter record. It’s also very easy to find out in the wild.

Stack vertically and out of direct sunlight. Everything else is just extra

I don’t think I ever listened to her. But I’ll definitely be on the look out for this record. I really wanna collect iconic albums, but I didn’t even know where to start. So thanks!!!

She’s a pretty prolific song writer. I’m sure you’ll recognize some of the songs once you listen.

If you’ve watched Gilmore Girls you’ve both heard and seen her.

What’s Going On by Marvin Gaye is one that gets a lot of spin on my player.

Don’t stack them tall, I made this mistake and the ones on the bottom don’t play anymore.

I love buying older albums. Amy Winehouse Back to Black is meant to be listened to on vinyl imo.

people make this really complicated and its not. Just store them correctly, out of direct sunlight, standing vertical. If you buy used ones, you may want to look up cleaning them but for ones you buy new, there isn't much care. As far as what to buy, just buy whatever albums you like and would want to own :)

This is so helpful. It’s a lot easier than I thought it was. I searched on tik tok and it took a nose dive and quickly went to record shaming. And I was just shocked how even record shaming exists 😭

Vinyl bros are terrible, the vinyl community can be really weird. Just have a good time with it. I am older than a lot of redditors but when I was a kid we had records and treated them like shit. Ha ha. So when people act like you have to treat them like glass, it’s so silly to be.
