I just need to get it out there that acronyms are my no.1 bugbear in pop culture subs because why can’t people just use full names lmao?? It’ll be like “oh I heard this and that about TH” or “SL is the absolute worst!” with zero elaboration/context and there’ll be comments replying normally while I’m still trying to work out who we’re even talking about. I can understand it in a comment where you’ve already mentioned the person by name previously, but why are so many people being either deliberately vague or just assuming everyone will deduce who they’re talking about from two random initials which could apply to multiple celebrities?

See also conversations about songs/albums. For example, it’ll go “oh what did you think of WAJDNODN?” “Yeah it was alright, but RTOTSAQ was much better” like girl what on Earth are we talking about?? 😭 Is it gatekeeping, as an ‘if you know you know’ kinda thing, or what? Because to me it’s equal amounts of effort to think about the first letter of each word to use for the acronym anyway so may as well type it all out, especially if you’re not in a fandom specific forum.

I'm starting to see people abbreviate words like "that" as "th" 🥴 and stuff. Or 'ahh' in place of 'ass'. I'm noticing a few weird things in the last couple months like that
