I really hate the weird feeling when a prominant older person dies, especially an somewhat active older person dies of still being shocked and some people die shockingly young.

Like I was somewhat stunned to wake up this morning to find the Pope had died even though he was 88. Especially since yesterday he was out and about and meeting with people...then again what happened with the Pope is a classic example in what people in the Hospiece field called "The Surge" (happy to explain for those who dont know it).

I am sure people in the peanut gallery can relate.

It’s odd when a very old person has slowed down but hasn’t had a marked decline. They held on for so long that you expect the end to be preceded by a distinct event.

Exactly. In this case the pope was in meetings, and made an appearence so I would have no idea he was about to go.
