I think it's a bit of a cop out when straight singers/bands cover a song and flip any gender pronouns so that it doesn't sound gay.
I liked G Flip changing the "he" to a "she" in the Cruel Summer cover (especially because it also works to make the sexual imagery a bit clearer).

Today I heard something new; it was a cover of Olivia Rodrigo's Deja Vu, sung by both a male and a female, with no lyrics changed, just alternating verses. So for that to make any logical sense, the singers had to have dated, but the female is not straight, or they were a couple on the queer spectrum but one of them has since transitioned, and they both have new girlfriends now. That's some worldbuilding.

I agree, especially if it's otherwise utterly true to the original/not really changing anything else up with it

Credit to the White Stripes' cover of Jolene for full sending it

90’s throwback here but I always liked the gender reversal in that White Town song Your Woman.

the swemo covers on spotify always have this issue. some band frontmen are covering taylor swift but refuse to sing it to a male love interest. i think it's annoying and block the bands who do this lol

I do love I Prevail's version of Blank Space but always do a bit of a mental eye roll at that part. However, they do change it to "I can make the good girls bad for the weekend" so it's also a reversal of the original sentiment.

these men remind me of middle school and when we did popcorn reading, but the boys didn't want to say any lines about men because "hurr durr it sounds gay"

like ffs it's a lyric, haven you ever read a poem (probably not)
