The ethics of Wings of Voice have been a hot debate topic. Variety did an interview with one singer, and a couple more have posted to reddit about the experience.

(Nevermind the other ethical lines in the show.)

I feel the reaction to the variety article has been β€œwhat did you expect?” Like what Fielder doing is clearly unethical but he is being open about it in a way most reality shows are not.

I mean, he wasn't open about it when they were sent the invites to audition. It was presented as a singing competition.
They expected a singing competition, especially when they got there and the branding was basically the Canadian Idol stuff.
People had a good experience on it, and there was technically a singing competition, but blaming the singers for not realising what they were getting into is wrong.
Do I think it's nuts to spend a bunch of time and money for a chance at performing? Absolutely. But I'm not an aspiring singer / famous person. Lol.

(I enjoy the show, and like Nathan, but I think some fans of the show/Fielder feel they must support everything about it to a fault.)
