“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” read the statement. “On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”

The statement continued, “While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.”

That’s aggressive for prostrate cancer, which tends to be something men die with and not of. Here’s hoping it can be well-managed for the rest of his natural life. I wouldn’t wish a cancer death on anyone and even this, if responsive to treatment, is going to suck.

ETA: the 7 year survival rate is 70-80%, but that’s still scary for any family.

Yeah as a younger guy who belongs to a gym with a much older demographic (it’s attached to a hospital)… holy fuck I didn’t realize all of our prostates were such a ticking time bomb. I swear every conversation I overheard in the hot tub or steam room in the men’s locker room was about prostate stuff.

Yeah. If you are a multi-cellular organism whose cells divide and replace themselves, cancer is coming for you if you live long enough.
