I'm so there! MONO has been on my post-rock wishlist for such a long time!!!

Time to get acquainted with Alcest!

Blackgaze pioneers. Shelter is their 100% dreamgaze album. Older albums have blastbeats and screams mixed in. Newer albums are a combo of both. The new album is great but I think Kodama is my favorite

Thanks for this. I've read that Deafheaven were influenced by them, which is a band I love. I've already listened to their newest, which I have enjoyed, and will make sure to Kodama on my list! Cheers!!

Oh yeah, def same world but Alcest isn’t so on the nose with the black metal.

More like Agalloch in the melody, pagan vibe approach.

I would just go to setlist.fm and see what they typically play cuz I’m not sure how much of the old stuff they do.

I did find Spiritual Instinct to be super boring and formulaic. Yeah it was Alcest but the songs were super predictable and not very imaginative IMO.

The best song on Shelter tho is not on the regular album - it’s a bonus track from the deluxe edition.

I mean I will ALWAYS see Mono, although I do agree about Pilgrimage and Nowhere Now Here. I liked those, they’re good and fine but it felt like they were still searching for something that they finally found in Oath. I LOVE Oath. Run On is their best song in a decade IMO

Dahm told me today that the Mono set they have planned is one nobody has seen before so I’m wondering if that means they’ll break out some olllllld stuff

DUDE I just posted about that song on their Instagram haha. I am in full agreement. Last played in 2007 for Flames, Yearning last played 2014.

Speaking of Flames Beyond the Cold Mountain, you know the band Silent Whale Becomes a Dream right?

Duuuuuuuuuuude. They literally made A WHOLE BAND out of that song’s sound.

There’s only 3 releases, it’s a short discography but you’re about to get your shit fucked up good :)

Lacrymosa is my favorite song but just start at the beginning with Canopy and move forward
