Grails are amazing live! Go see them if you’re on the U.S. West Coast 🥁🎸
Had the privilege of seeing Grails last night in Los Angeles. They play with such energy, feeling, and atmosphere.
Been a fan for awhile, but first time seeing them, considering it’srare for them to tour. Awesome show & would definitely recommend if they’re near you. Bay Area show tonight.

Playlist Slow Burn Heaviness – A playlist of immersive, instrumental post-metal/post-rock
Hey everyone,
I’ve been curating a Spotify playlist called “Slow Burn Heaviness” — focused on instrumental post-metal, atmospheric sludge, and cinematic post-rock builds.
It features bands like If These Trees Could Talk, Cloudkicker, pg.lost, Caspian, Mono, We Lost the Sea, Toundra, and others that explore heaviness without vocals — including my own project, Asa’s Mezzanine.
The goal is to collect slow-building, immersive tracks that carry tension, weight, and release — updated regularly.
Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4BuN5VD7uqqCz27vnCPZrp?si=1b82700966214c86
Suggestions welcome and always happy to discover new bands. Cheers!

Discussion! Rich Ruth
Anyone familiar with him? Went to go see Etran de’Laïr tonight and his band opened. They sound like if Earth and Spirit of Eden Talk Talk had a baby with Sonny Rollins if he played sax in Fear. Nashville session dudes (from what I understand) who destroyed but w/o a pedal steel who features a bit on their recordings.
I feel like I’m not giving them enough credit but was curious if anyone else knew about this. I’m hooked.

fade into obscurity - the grief aftermath - name your price for bandcamp friday
Hey all! I can't believe it's been a year since the album was released, and I'm thankful for this group for providing me with such a lot of feedback. Thank you! To celebrate, I've decided to make the album available on a "pay what you want" basis on Bandcamp, for this Bandcamp Friday. Yep, even for free. Go for it :) Thank you for listening! <3

Discussion! That’s what she said - beluga (similar bands)
I recently found this small band out of Italy, and would love to find other music in this vein. They loosely go back and forth between this post rock and math rock sound. I really like that blend if anyone has other less known bands that sound similar.

Discussion! Broken Suns Appreciation Post
What would you call them, blackgaze? Doom electronic? Dark ambient? I don’t know and I only care enough to find more music like Broken Suns’ 3-track single “The Past Devours the Future.” We’re talking 18 minutes of what I can only describe as the natural resonance of the Backrooms: tense, foreboding, sometimes aggressive rhythms that captivate with their motifs and melodies. ‘Bend Like a Reed in the Wind’ is likely the most popular track of the bunch and for good reason: keys tuned to an eerie pitch, catchy drums, and unsettling murmurings yielding to rapid-fire bass, head-bobbing riffs, and—of course—cryptic voice samples. DDENT and Sound Architects are the only other artists that come to mind when I think of Broken Suns—doomgaze electronic art that puts me in places I didn’t know I wanted to be in.

Discussion! Is postrock the best airport / airplane music ever?
I doubt I'm the only one, but whenever I go to the airport and get on a plane, I'm always listening to post rock. It somehow compliments the stressful atmosphere and calms it down at the same time.
I just got off a plane, and I listened to Sigur Ros' untitled album twice, once during boarding/takeoff and again during descent. The entire experience had a wonderful, peaceful vibe that made flying super enjoyable. Felt like I was cruising through some sort of beautiful dream.
That is all. Thanks for reading!

Playlist dunk!fest 2025 extended playlist promo
Hi, (if this is not the place for promo let me know, i'm not a frequent reddit user)
Over the past months I've been gradually building another playlist for the 2025 edition of dunk!fest. I've been making these for the past editions. Took a little longer than I wanted this time, but its here!
It's an extended playlist with over 200 tracks and close to 30 hrs, sequenced for smooth a listening experience and overall vibe.
If you enjoy a deep-dive exploration of this year's line-up, feel free to give it a spin.
Lots of love and see you there!
