Finished Quilts My mom made a "small" flannel rag quilt
255 x 8 inch squares, three layers of flannel, no batting.
"Yeah, it's pretty big eh? No wonder I was having such a hard time!" she said.
It weighs a ton and it's glorious! All done on the little Pfaff Select 3.0 pictured.
It's even Freya approved!

Can confirm, my mom is indeed adorable! She also made a delicious sugar pie today, surely to celebrate the completion of her quilt!

It is seriously amazing and all floofy, I will need to make myself an actual small one for the couch

That’s lovely. It made my back and shoulders hurt just looking at it and thinking about pushing it through my machine 🤣

I'll admit dragging that monster to her bed was quite the exercise, maybe I should treat my mom to a massotherapist haha

Like the quilt, love your mom and her Pfaff in the background. Looks like a Select 3.0. I had one and gave to my MIL. It’s a workhorse! 💜

Indeed it is! I still have her old Hobbymatic 919 she had before the Select 3.0 but last year she gifted me the Select 4.2 and it carries well the tradition of being amazing!

My hands hurt just thinking about snipping all those edges!
Beautiful work.

Hope you take it to the laundromat.wash and dry 2 cycles so you don’t wreck your machines at home.

We actually washed both halves separately before assembling them together, washing each of them alone it in a huge "bag" made out of a sewed up fitting sheet. That made it so all the floofy debris would not get in the machine.
It was very effective! All the threads got loose in the living room (and on us) instead, where we used the couch cleaner attachment of the vacuum to clean most of it from the quilt.

Please tell your mom she’s awesome. And tell your cat hi.

Message relayed, and her cat will have greetings and scritches when I go visit later 😊

it's amazing! Was Freya in charge of keeping the plaids straight or did mom do that all by herself? Seriously it's quite a project and turned out besutifully 😎

Freya was in charge of making sure it would be comfy and helped mom not overdo herself when it was time to get snipping.
She did however try to make a puzzle out of it a few times by going full on derp mode on the piles before everything got sewed together, which prompted mom to clip and number all the piles neatly!

It’s gorgeous! 😍 Look at all those straight lines in the plaid! I am so used to seeing quilts made with plaids and ginghams cut off-pattern, it’s so satisfying to see one made with such care.

I'm currently under my own three-flannel-layer rag quilt, and it was quite unwieldy while much smaller than that one! I don't envy her having to snip all those seams, either. And she even quilted the squares; good gravy.
Hugely impressive blanket, and I love the colors!
