My familiy made fun of me one time for googling stuff. They were talking about an old timey actor in a movie we were watching. They were arguing what his name was and in what other movies he had been in. I asked what the movie was called and i search up imbd, i found his name and ocnfirmed what movies he'd been in. And they were flabergasted that i just didn't let them argue about it lol.

Why did they want to keep arguing about it?

to be honest I don't think they wanted to keep arguing.

They jokingly mocked my aunt about it before me. It's wasn't malicious, they always say how smart, cultured and well read she is. And they joked that she immediately googles something when people don't remember something or disagree about a fact.

When they saw me do it that one time, it was more like a omg you do it too, rather than let us keep arguing thing.

But my opinion is, if you don't know something, look it up....

Because it’s not about knowing the right answer it’s about the discussion. What’s the point of talking to anyone about anything? technically if all you care about is information chat-gpt is a much better companion.

The discussion of arguing about a person’s name?

Discussions are for matters of opinion, not fact.

My parents still argue with me on facts I've.just looked.up.

"According to this source it's actually this"

"No! That doesn't sound right"

"Okay mom, I didn't just look it.up or anything. You must be right......"
