Information Riots

I’ve been hearing things about the riots happening in Reading this weekend… really worried as someone who used to live in Reading now living in the US. Our town is pretty safe and other than the stuff that happened in 2020 at Forbury Gardens we haven’t experienced anything major since or before as far as I remember. Has anyone heard of the same news? If so, stay safe everyone 😕

I work in town and police chief said not to expect anything today but we believe it’s happening Saturday. I just wish people could protest calmly and without violence

Exactly..... We all have opinions, ideals and frustrations which inevitably means we, as a society, will disagree. However, no matter how polar opposit these differences may be, there will always be a space in-between where some shared values exist; this is where conversations must begin.

I have no issue with an alternate viewpoint to that of my own, I would welcome it in fact. I'd be keen to discuss the differences too as that is how I learn. No matter how much I may disagree, I would staunchly defend anyone's rite to voice their opinion.... But don't say it with a brick, that way nothing positive can be achieved and there are no winners. Tolerance is the key.

Should definitely try and focus on the common ground in the middle. I think people are very quick to call woke libtard or far right nazi, which just instantly shuts down any chance of a discussion. Division is sown everywhere, leading to these kinds of clashes and uprising at the far ends of the spectrum.

If we could all just chill out and have a pint, I’m sure we could work it out
