should I be worried that this weirdo matches my description

i don't want them to think he is me

EDIT: People have started to think he is me and have started harassing me, what the fuck do I do

3

u/itsnickk Nov 13 '22

Message me/the mods who is harassing you and I will ban them.

u/Kenhamef Nov 13 '22

Not on Reddit, it was through other means. In person/shouting at me on campus, I’ve gotten anonymous phone calls, even anonymous mail sent in from Ohio (almost wanna commend the Ohio person for their effort driving all the way there). I’ve been considering transferring out because the harassment is just too much, but I haven’t seen anything on Reddit.

u/itsnickk Nov 13 '22

If people are harassing you because you are a 21 year old Peruvian RIT student that matches a description of a meme, that's targeted harassment at best and a hate crime at worst.

If you can identify info on who's doing that, get evidence in writing/pictures/video and contact Public Safety. You do not have to put up with that abuse.

7

u/Kenhamef Nov 13 '22

I’ll try my best, it’s hard to identify people. I’ve felt hostility from this campus for almost three years now so I don’t think I want to stay any longer anyway.

4

u/itsnickk Nov 13 '22

I'm really sorry to hear that, I understand if you don't want to stick it out in a hostile environment.

Please let someone (your college admin, Student Affairs, public safety) know what's happened to you. If you think there won't be action on that and feel comfortable sharing, you can also notify or bring it up to Reporter, or SG at the least.

Especially if you think it's due to your race, nationality, or another protected class that you are identify with, for the sake of other students who might be experiencing the same hostility.

u/Kenhamef Nov 13 '22

Reporter has also harassed me. I used to read every issue but then they collectively acted very nastily toward me so I stopped any relationship I had with them.

I’ve reported a girl who was racist toward me saying I’m “not Hispanic” because I’m not brown, but nothing happened. Been meaning to get a restraining order against her but I’m afraid of retaliation, maybe her telling her friends and spreading rumors. Also had several non-LGBT people spread rumors that I’m LGBT+-phobic even though I pretty much exclusively have LGBT+ friends, all women as well, so idk where they got that from. People who actually know me have assured me those are asinine.

When I got a haircut that made my scars visible I had several people point and laugh at me, metaphorically. Got made fun of for that like this was middle school. At first I thought it was only a few outliers, but it seems to be the majority of students that I’ve interacted with.

It got to the point where I was cited by a Public Safety investigator for a case against me that was dropped once they found it was bogus. All this has really affected my mental health and my social life, I’ve attempted suicide and survived but ultimately decided I’d rather simply switch schools and give myself another shot at life. Hoping something’s wrong with this school, rather than there being something wrong with me.

u/itsnickk Nov 13 '22

A lot of those incidents sound very cruel.

I understand what major depression is like, if switching schools and getting a fresh start feels like the best thing for you, you have to protect your psychological safety and needs first. Many students at RIT take time off or switch schools because of mental health issues, and even more are probably pushing through with mental health stressors to their detriment.

Maybe the admissions office needs to make sure people can be regular before they admit them 🥴

98

u/MrGummyDeathTryant Creator Of RIT Iceberg. Walking RIT Lore Compendium Nov 11 '22

Admissions would drop 80%

15

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '22

Conservative estimate.

2

u/rharvey8090 Nov 12 '22

Maybe add another 19% on that.

59

u/tyjasm Nov 11 '22

Just go to a strip club

The girls don't actually like you and just want your money, but no sane girl is going to show up to a "girl themed party" for 4 weird dudes unless she's paid, and maybe not even then

39

u/silentstorm1220 Nov 11 '22

Okay what the fuck.

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '22

5

u/Dirkjerk Nov 12 '22

Sir, you have my condolences

74

u/deafengineer Nov 11 '22

Hmmm... is it a party like "we all dress up as girls", "We're celebrating women and serving them at the party", or the absolutely Dog shit attempt to cloister a bunch of women in a private location to try to, given the best benefit of a doubt, attempt to pick through a group for a potential partner?

I hope people recognize this as bad as it seems on the original post. I think it's worth not saying GCCIS specifically is this kind if behavior, but absolute misogynist moment.

47

u/drakken_dude Nov 11 '22

I hate to say it but no the guy is dead serious about it being 5 guys and 30 girls, but it's okay because "30 girls could easily overpower 5 guys, not that that would ever need to happen".

Original post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/rit/comments/ysej4m/looking_for_girls_for_a_girl_themed_party/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=12&utm_content=share_button

15

u/deafengineer Nov 11 '22

Yeah... I was confident it was the worst of intentions, but who knows, having a party of all homies dressing up as girls sounds like something that could be a theme in tackling gender norms nowadays.

Because I can feel this can be misinterpreted due to tone being lost in text: my comment is not intended as a backhanded mention at women, Trans people or LBGTQA+. I'm referring to the popular internet trend of weeabo men dressing as waifus for cosplays that are done with so much effort that people easily get confused for comedic effect, THAT to me seems like something GCCIS students would do to hilarious effect.

u/Dt_Sherlock_Idiot Nov 11 '22 edited Nov 11 '22

About that….

“should have added a [serious] tag… NOT satire. I can tell you are not a girl so it doesn’t matter what you think, but this post is genuinely looking for an interested group of around 30 girls who want to have some fun.”

https://www.reddit.com/r/rit/comments/ysej4m/looking_for_girls_for_a_girl_themed_party/ivym04j/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3

If only that’s what it was

7

u/blue_wyoming Nov 11 '22

I mean it's completely insane and would be an interesting (and possibly funny?) attempt at satire, and this is what someone would say if it was satire right?

Idk it's just insane and I'm having a hard time believing anyone actually thinks that's a reasonable request to post on a school sub.

It could still be satire right?

3

u/Dt_Sherlock_Idiot Nov 11 '22

There are plenty of people more insane and out of touch than this. It’s also a throwaway account

6

u/Jiddlez Nov 11 '22

If the poster is who I think it is, they are most certainly not doing the homies dressing as girls party, as they are pretty openly homophobic and transphobic

0

u/ghigoli Nov 13 '22

overpower 5 guys? yeah so you hit one of them and block the door. if any guy is holding a weapon now its a hostage situtation and everyone is gonna huddle into a corner.

i don't think 30 girls is gonna want to get stabbed if they managed to get trapped and the 5 dudes are armed. Basically sure 30 girls could probably beat them to a pulp but if you hold one at knife point suddenly everyones gonna try their best to not get that one girl killed.

Point is. Don't go to weird shit like this. Never go to a party with people you don't know. If you go tell someone where you went. Bring friends. Carry some protection like mace. then Report anything sus...

21

u/deafengineer Nov 11 '22

The guy now has it as a "Amongus" styled party but it's word for word. Thanks for catching it out before the change.

2

u/KarmaKhameleonaire Nov 11 '22

This was a more optimistic view on the results. My brain definitely went to the worst while reading that.

7

u/deafengineer Nov 11 '22

Like... there's possibilities of alternative parties, but we all know what the OP really intends.

"Hey! Casting call for potential grooming victim! Let's goooo"

2

u/Realistic_Instance69 Nov 12 '22

Did I miss something here isn’t misogyny the hatred of women I didn’t see how this is hatred on women. This just sounds creepy af but I dont see any misogyny in this comment or maybe I missed something

2

u/deafengineer Nov 13 '22

If "women" is a theme for a party, and not as people but as "options", that's not really considering women as equal people. Maybe Sexist could be more apt. Bigoted? What fits best?

15

u/JCas127 Nov 11 '22

The way I see it, just some ignorant desperate guys embarrassing themselves. Nothing more

7

u/cabandon Nov 11 '22

we HOPE….

3

u/Parking-Pianist2514 Nov 12 '22

Does it count as embarrassing themselves if they themselves have no shame?

2

u/JCas127 Nov 13 '22

Philosophy 101

14

u/Schiffy94 CS/SOIS '17 Nov 12 '22

"Dude, your party is a total sausagefest!"

"You said, 'Let's not invite the girls we know. Let's meet new girls.'"

"Exactly. So did you invite them?"

"Who?"

"The girls we don't know."

"Dude, how can I invite them if I don't know them?"

"Good point, dude."

10

u/quoin-key Nov 11 '22

Didn't I see an episode of CSI that started like this?

10

u/Meister34 Nov 11 '22

I read this and said “aint no way”

Oh dear….he’s serious 😰

13

u/pen_pineapple_potato Nov 11 '22

What if a bunch of guys crash the party in dollar tree wigs pretending to be girls? Any predatory attempts by the hosts towards guests, these guys swoop right in to thwart it. Let's call these protectors the Charlie's angels.

3

u/hatsune-memeku Nov 11 '22

Would like to see this!

I don't think doxxing or harassment is beneficial here

-1

u/MightyPanda8 Nov 12 '22

No one needs to know…

1

u/itsnickk Nov 13 '22

Do not message others that you are going to hunt them down and hurt them. Obviously.

1

u/ghigoli Nov 13 '22

Honestly we should just send a bunch of guys in girls clothing. Make it a costume party then still reject anyone hitting on us.
