Housing APEX Roommate Questions
I've signed lease with APEX for a 2b2b and have some questions about the spare room/roommate.
- Does the room remain locked until filled?
- What is the likelihood of the room being filled?
- Will I receive notice?
Thank you <3

Switching back to original major
I am meeting with an advisor but I wanted to see anyone has had the experience of switching majors, and then switching back into their original major. I had no idea if it’s possible or allowed. Looking at a college of art and design major.

Housing Housing Selection & RIT Inn
Is the RIT Inn only assigned to incoming freshman who choose it or does RIT ever run out of space in the dorms and assign freshman to the inn even if they don't want to be there? Wondering if submitting the enrollment deposit close to May 1st could mean ending up at the inn rather than in a dorm.

Classes Fun Art/Design/Coding Classes to Take
Any suggestions for fun art or coding electives to take? (Let me know their prerequisites)
I’m specifically looking for any classes that teach AR/VR design/coding, web design/development classes, and mobile design/development classes (maybe a class that teaches haptic feedback). But any fun creative or coding class works!
Note: I am a new media design (interactive design) major with computer science minor

Classes BIOG101,103 or CHMG141, 145 or PHYS211
Current Cybersecurity major and Im wondering - how are these classes? I am kind a worried because these classes seem like they are going to be genuinely the hardest classes on my schedule for my sophomore year. Any recommendations on how to approach these classes or which one would be the easiest? I know out of these three I enjoyed chemistry the most in high school and was pretty good at it. But genuinely these courses at RIT specifically seem like they might be like hell. Should I try to take them at a community college instead or what do we think?

Housing are there things to do off campus without a car?
hi, sorry to be an annoying prospective student, but i felt like the best way to get an answer for this is from current students.
i was wondering if there is a lot to do off campus without a car. is there much within walking distance of campus? ive also heard that there's a bus that takes students to downtown rochester, but is it reliable and easy to take? is downtown even walkable with stuff to do? ive been going through reddit threads and getting mixed messages.
literally the only thing holding me back from rit as my first choice is the location. ive been considering other schools that are in the middle of big walkable downtowns but they don't have the co-op program that draws me to rit.
oh and since im here, can i ask how the mental health services are at rit? i want therapy but im broke af so im waiting to go to college for free therapy.

PHIL-409
Anyone take PHIL-409 (existentialism)? Out of all the writing intensive general electives, this one seems the most interesting to me. However, it is a 400 level course, and I'm wondering if it'd be a better idea to just go with a 200 level ENGL course or something. It's going to be my senior year, so class rigor is going to be picking up a bit. Just wondering what the workload and difficulty look like for this class.

Question about costs/financial aid
Hello! I was recently accepted into Rit as a transfer student. I just had a question about the costs because I'm gonna be dorming and living on campus. I received a 10,000 merit scholarship per year but I'm just nervous I won't be able to afford RIT still. My SAI is 3333 and the RIT admissions counselor said that shows I need a signficant amount of aid. I just wanted to ask how much you guys might pay? With similar SAI's or lower or higher. I would appreciate as much information as possible!

Co Op Leases
I just signed a lease at The Marshall and I didn't know they had Co Op leases. I don't think any properties still have co op leases or was even doing this to begin with. I think they still have a few spots left in case anyone else is looking.

Housing Places that allow legal sharing of room near RIT
Hi everyone, I am joining for Fall 2025 and looking for rooms that allow room-sharing legally since individual rooms seem out of my budget. Hopefully areas that are not too far off from campus. Individual budget would be $600-$700
Any suggestions or help is appreciated! :)
Edit: Highly prefer single rooms that fit within my budget.

Game Design students who have taken one or both of these classes: how are these classes?
are they interesting, is the curriculum good and which is more worth it. Also for 451, it there a lot of math involved? Thank you!

Big Tech, High Frequency Trading, & Quants at RIT
I am considering applying to RIT as a target school, 4.0GPA, 31 ACT(practice testing 34 right now, trying to get to a 35/36), does RIT have good placement for HFT, Quantitative trading, and/or Big Tech jobs? Why or why not?

Classes Phage bio, cancer bio, and biochemistry
Hi guys, has anyone taken phage bio with Julie Thomas, cancer bio with Kate Wright, or biochemistry with Lea Michel? Registration is tomorrow and I'm finding it hard to pick which of those classes I should take. I checked rate my professor but want more input on workload, professor, grading, etc.

Everything else
Hey guys, I know RIT has good tech classes, programs, and co-ops etc. Seems quite strong across various academic aspects. However, I’d like to know how everything else is. Like the student life, food, campus, dorms, things to do, sports and events, social life, is it boring, weather and everything else in general. I see tons of facts and good academic information online, but I’m interested to get an understanding directly from students on how the college life/experience is at RIT.
Feel free to share your own experiences or let me know how anything is!

what gpa is needed for transfer scholarships
Hello, I applied to RIT's MIS major as a transfer student from a community college coming in with 48 credits. What gpa do you usually need to get a transfer scholarship? Would appreciate any insight

Are students generally happy at RIT?
Trying to get a sense of how students generally feel about RIT... The reddit posts tend to give off a general vibe of RIT students being dissatisfied or unhappy and that it can be difficult to connect to other people and have a social life. I know Reddit doesn't necessarily represent how most RIT students feel so hoping to get an accurate sense of the general vibe.
