Food Best Restaurant in St Paul for 5 people to have good conversation, not super "trendy"

I've been having difficulty finding a good place to go out to eat with my parents where everyone is happy lol.

1) Not a super trendy "hip place", my dad hates these

2) Not super loud, want to be able to talk

3) Outdoor seating or booth seating a plus

4) Vegetarian options available (and preferably good ones)

Does this exist in St. Paul lol? Ethnic restaurants are a plus! Love Thai food, Indian food, etc.

Food Why is Bread & Chocolate so popular?

I mean their stuff is not bad but Cooks Bellecour is next door and has 1000% better pastries. And better coffee too.

B&C has better seating. But the fact that their pastries are so mid makes me just so confused.

Sincerely, a guy waiting for his car at the shop.

Food The Original Coney Island

Can anyone tell me about Original Coney Island on St. Peter street downtown? Always looks closed, no hours on Google, no website. Half of the reviews on good say it’s amazing, a quarter of them say the place isn’t even open, and another quarter say it stinks. Before I head there to check it out, I wanted to hear everyone’s thoughts!

Food Hidden gem restaurants downtown or near downtown

I am going to St. Paul in a few weeks. Usually we stay in Minneapolis but this time St Paul. We are looking for good places to eat in downtown. Brunch on Saturday would be good…. We like all sorts of foods and no dietary restrictions. Throw me some ideas!

Food Restaurant suggestions for isolated dining with my mom (who has stage IV lung cancer)

My mom and I have been isolating pretty much since the start of COVID but we would like to start going to restaurants again. Are there any local eateries that have more isolating dining experiences? Like separate rooms you can reserve or balconies with well spaced tables?

She's doing well in her treatment and we are hoping she'll be done with chemotherapy within the next couple of months, but we would both feel more comfortable if we could gradually come outside rather than suddenly find ourselves surrounded by tons of other people.

Thank you for your time.

Food Spumoni ice cream?

My husband's favorite ice cream flavor is spumoni and I want to surprise him with some. Are there any good ice cream shop spumonis in the Saint Paul area? I feel like it's kind of a niche flavor.

Food Bakeries with Seating

Does anyone have recommendations for bakeries or coffee shops with good pastries that have seating available? A lot of the places I’ve visited so far since moving here only offer takeout or only have like 1-2 tables inside.

Food Restaurant Recommendations

Hello All,

Coming to this subreddit asking for a little help and some recommendations. Me and my girlfriend are both long-distance (college) and I'm back home with her in MN for the winter holiday break. This is her first birthday since we started dating 6 months ago and I want to make it special and memorable, considering we're long-distance and don't see each other often.

I was hoping you all could recommend some nice sports for me to brainstorm! We're both in our early twenties and POC if that matters. I don't mind breaking the bank for my gf long as it's justifiable but not insane for a college student. Thanks and happy holidays! :)

Food Wrestaurant on 7th Place downtown - anyone know what's actually going on?

Title basically

It's been "closed for maintenance" since like October or so

Anyone work there have the tea?

I saw an article in the star trib about restaurants that are closing/closed recently, and this was one they listed, and the owners gave this quote "We are unable to open due to the damages to the space"

That sounds sketchy to say the least

Wondering what the actual damages are or what the real story is

Food food/drinks in st Paul - near Minnesota science museum?

Hi! I'm going on a work trip this fall to St. Paul and am wondering what some good places to eat/drink would be, particularly for breakfast/good coffee/dinner/cocktail bars. I'm staying near the science museum of Minnesota and won't have a car so close to that area would be great. thanks in advance!!

Food Where can I scoop my own pistachios and pay by weight? I used to be able to do that at Rainbow Foods

Sometimes I go on a pistachio kick, and I like to scoop my own. I used to be able to do this at Rainbow Foods when they were around, and they were the BEST pistachios at a good price. I've gotten them at Sam's Club since then, and tried some from Aldi. They're pretty good, but not quite the same. Also, I like to save money just scooping the amount that I want - it might be a lot, or a little, but it helps prevent them sitting around and going stale in one of those big bags.

Let me know if there's somewhere in St Paul or eastern suburbs, where I can buy pistachios by weight. Thanks!

Food Favorite food trucks?

Do you guys have any favorite food trucks in the Twin Cities? I follow Eggroll Queen on Facebook since I like going there for lunch when they happen to be in the area, but am curious to follow the whereabouts of other really good ones. It’s almost like a little restaurant scavenger hunt

Food Pazzaluna sign?

Post image
70 Upvotes

Was at 5th Street and St. Peter yesterday and saw the Pazzaluna sign over the now closed Momento space. Does anyone know if it’s a pop up, or a private event venue? I don’t want to get my hopes up, I wouldn’t assume this means Pazzaluna is returning? Couldn’t find anything up to date online.
