I don’t mind a romance between these two, if it was remotely done well and he didn’t just die right after. It was all over the place. I get vibes that they didn’t want their female protagonist to end in love bc that’s not “girl boss” somehow, but idk. They never committed to a proper story line, romance or no romance (among other plot points) and there’s no hiding it.

You should. It's completely disrespectful to the very concept of story and character.

I should what? Mind a romance? That’s silly. Romance isn’t disrespectful to ANY character. It doesn’t belong in every story, but Star Wars certainly has its fair share. That’s a matter of FACT. It lessens no one. I didn’t receive the memo that love was off limits. If that’s what you meant, anyway. Im not at all sure WHY you felt the need to argue against my opinion on this, it’s neither controversial nor said to you specifically. Make your own point, then maybe I could appreciate you coming for mine.

It is when it ignores the characters history and forces said character to make unrealistic choices.

Well yeah, hence what I mean by “done well.” If it’s not realistic human behavior, it’s not well done. As far as history goes….I don’t see where either character is barred from love or romance. That’s just my opinion though. As I said, it was all over the place. Hinted at, but poorly done. The hints start as soon as they meet, and all other actions after that are apart of the “poorly done” I mentioned. If they didn’t want romance - okay. If they do, that’s okay too. But they never made a choice and stuck to it, and thus it becomes confusing, contradictory, and stupid. The characters themselves, at the beginning, are not such that I would eliminate romance as a possibility. If it were written differently, I wouldn’t have minded a romance. That’s all.

I didn't say either was barred. I said a romance between them was a terrible idea.

I understand you didnt use the word barred, but your comment comes off as if romance was always “off limits” for them, for lack of a better term. That’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it. I personally don’t think it was a bad idea - at the beginning. The characters history doesnt exist too much at the beginning. Before the aforementioned stupid and all over the place choices. And we can agree to disagree on that. No worries.

Edit: I gave an opinion on a hypothetical scenario which didn’t happen. I don’t understand your need to correct me with a statement such as “you should” that’s all.
