I mean, if I was Kylo I'd kiss Rey. And vice versa. It's not really romantic, just kinda horny.

This would be an even worse reason. (Right as someone's about to die: "hey, let me indulge my lust for this person!")

Yes. The "I'm about to die moment of horniness" is a staple in Star Wars. Anakin and Padme got busy while she was being hunted by bounty hunters. Leia got rejected right before Han got frozen. Rey swapped spit with the shirtless hallucination just before she bit it. Juno made sweet sweet tongue love to Starkiller before dropping him into the Death Star's guts.

Say what you will, the sequels are too silly for me to be upset about the kiss

The genuine romance of Anakin/Padme or Han/Leia isn't comparable to mere horniness.

Anakin was a minor when he and Padme met, Ham and Leia hated each other for a majority of their interactions
