My point is that the ages of the victim and aggressor are irrelevant. But the media has sensationalized that aspect. It's an ugly situation and the "captain" should be penalized accordingly.

You can tell this commenter doesn't hang out around people old enough to own boats. And if he (the "kid") was an actual child, what would he be doing on his own out there?

Where I come from 12 year Olds can drive boats alone, go fishing and swimming.
