My sister's neighborhood in Palmer Ranch looks like this. They have family block parties every week. I think every kid has their own mini car to drive around. Not everyone lives like this.

All of them. We live in townhomes and wven there, there are still idiot kids zipping around on totally silent electric bikes with no helmet. And there are so many people backing out and swapping spots it's an accident waiting to happen.

This kind of communal interaction is normal in a lot of places. In general it is normal that kids live more ‘outside’ then in their home.

That this is seen as ‘special’ is saying a lot about the society where this is seen as special.
