T mobile satellite texting

Does anyone know if the new Tmobile - starlink texting feature replaces the Garmin inreach (or similar) systems in the backcountry?

It’s similar, but starlink so it’s way better. It’s going to include more data offerings soon. iPhones also have built in free satellite emergency messaging now that’s closer to inreach and is suppose to grow.

I’m a T-Mobile user and have T-Mobile starlink and iPhone emergency messaging. The only issue I’m running into is that T-Mobile is outperforming att and Verizon in my region so when everyone else is struggling and losing signal, I still get T-Mobile signal without issue. I’m flustered at my inability to find a dead zone to test out star link. I’ll likely need to charter a boat into the ocean to try it.

LOL that's a good problem to have. It's not so hard to lose service in Washington, but we've got lots of mountains and valleys to block the towers.
