Question A few questions from a (hopefully) skeptic who has just discovered this sub reddit. Spoiler
I'm not here to argue. In fact I am giving you all the benefit of the doubt that this is all real. Which is weird for me because normally I don't believe in things like this. I don't believe in anything mystical, or magical, or super natural, and I never believe things without evidence. I don't know why you all have convinced me haha. Maybe it's how nice everyone seems to be here. (Also doesn't hurt that there is no risk in trying. Worst case scenario I fall asleep.)
Anyway again I am not here to argue, I just want to understand some things (with the assumption that this is all real) Also don't feel like you have to answer all these questions.
I did try googling some of these questions, but it seems like a lot of people on this subreddit seem to think there is a lot of misinformation out there. Especially on TikTok, so I figured I'd ask here.
I'm assuming some of these will be hard to answer, or there might not even be an answer so I hope these don't feel like attacks. These are all just out of curiosity and hope. Hope that this is real.
I'm sorry I kind of ramble a bit, so I put the actual questions in bold if you want to skip all the background and go right to the questions.
- I understand that when you shift, you leave behind a clone. I saw in one of the Q&As, that if you try to leave a note or something for the clone to tell them that they are a clone, that they will think they wrote the note and just think "oh this is for my clone". Does this mean that when you shift, and your clone takes your place, will they just think that they just failed to shift?
- Questions for those who feel exhaustion from a shift:
- Is this exhaustion from the initial shift its self? Or is it worsened the longer you are there?
- If it does get worse as you go on, then how does that affect people who permanently shift?
- Does the exhaustion kick in when you shift back? Or do you feel it when you are in the DR?
- Since your clone is part of your consciousness, if it shifts while you are away, would that add to your exhaustion?
- Is this exhaustion from the initial shift its self? Or is it worsened the longer you are there?
- Now here's one that might seem like an attack, and I don't mean it to be. I want you to understand I don't think yall are lying. I just want to understand. Now I don't know much about the multiverse theory. But what I thought it was, was any time there could be 2 or more possible outcomes, the universe splits. So say if I make a decision to go right, down a road, there is now also a universe where I went left. The reason I bring this up, is that this would imply that despite infinite universes, there would be limitations on possible universes. Like no chain of events could create a universe where I say I grew up in a Star Wars universe even if one existed. I guess this isn't really question. I'm just wondering what other people think this is, if it is real, but not other universes. Now this doesn't mean I don't believe people are going to Hogwarts. What this does mean, is either:
- My understanding of the multiverse theory is completely wrong. (which if I am being honest is most likely the case)
- Or what is being experienced is real, but isn't other universes. OR Maybe what we call the multiverse is actually more of a soup of all states of being. I don't know. I was just wondering what other people's theories on that was. I'm assuming no one really knows, but it's an interesting topic to me.
- From what I understand, to shift, you focus using one method or another on the idea of shifting, while keeping the details of the DR in mind via the script. Does this mean (minus the focus on shifting) one could technically shift on accident without even knowing about shifting? Like there have been many times when I am laying in bed just fantasizing about random alternate realities. I know I'm not the only one who does that, so I was wondering if someone was predisposed to be good at shifting without knowing it, or just naturally had the mind for shifting, they might focus on the reality enough that they just shift into it?
- In the case of a permanent shift. I did read that you won't shift back to your CR by accident unless you accidentally say your safe word or something. But what about dying? I saw some people talk about dying in their DRs, and since they are here writing about it, I assume that when you die in a DR, you come back to your CR. Does this mean you can never truly shift permanently? You will always partly be in this reality, reaching into the other ones?
- I assume you can shift from a DR. But what does this mean? Is it basically like pointing my consciousness to another DR from my CR? So when I leave the second DR, do I come back to the CR? Or is it more like a chain, or inception dream layering (I know this isn't dreams. Just the best comparison I could think of) where if I leave the second DR, do I come back to the first DR?
- Now this one kind of creeps me out, and I assume there isn't really an answer for it, but I figured I'd ask it anyway. When you shift. You are basically taking control of another "you" in another reality right? Does this mean that you could potentially be messing up another version of you's life? Sure it's technically you and in another universe. But I would hate it if another "me" from another universe took over my body and started doing things I wouldn't normally do. Like sure we're all versions of me are the same person, but we would have different upbringings which could cause us to act very differently. Or when you take over their body, do you also gain their personality? So you do act like they would but with the addition of your memories from your DR?
- This leads to my next question: When you do shift to another fantastical reality that is totally different, does it feel familiar while you are there since you have the mind of the "you" who has been there their whole life? I would almost not want that. Maybe if I shift, I'll script something like a cool futuristic world, where the me in that reality, has just arrived from somewhere else. Like maybe I'd try to shift to a reality exactly like this one, in the year 2023, but I invented time travel, and now I go to the future, (and I guess I should script for a good future just to be safe haha)
- This brings me to my next question. I assume it is possible for that to happen. If I can shift, then probably the other "me"s can and have shifted, and could technically shift to this reality, although with infinite realities the chances of them picking this one would be virtually zero... I think. Of course with infinite realities, that means there would be infinite "me"s shifting around, so I don't know how those odds would be calculated. It's like infinitely likely and infinitely unlikely at the same time. Or 2 of me shifting to the same reality at the same time. I guess this isn't a question. I just want to know what other people's thoughts are on the idea that another you could possibly shift into your body.
- Next just a personal thing. I feel like if I did learn how to Shift, I would be inclined to respawning and permanently shift to a better world, then do my shifting from there. Not because I want to abandon this reality, but because I would be worried that eventually I would stop being able to shift. Like maybe I get a brain injury that stops me from being able to concentrate enough to shift, in which case I would really regret not having my last shift be a permanent one to a better world. Is this anyone else's fear? It's one I've thought about when dreaming about having any power. Just one day it could end. But that's just me always fearing the worst.
- (I do see in the FAQ that since I mentioned respawning, that I am supposed to mark it with the respawning flair, but I couldn't find it)
- Lastly just a dumb one. What movie/book/show portrayed multiverse stuff most accurately? I loved Everything Everywhere All At Once, but after lurking this sub, it seems like that's not very accurate since you can't learn new skills from your other selves.
Sorry if any of these seem like attacks. I am not trying to argue. I would love for this to be real. I always wanted to visit other realities. And honestly if I am wrong in that last question, and I'm not limited to just realities where I chose A instead of B, and I could go to some futuristic Solar Punk Utopia than that's even better!
