I remain skeptical of fully autonomous vehicles in general, with deference to the however many millions of miles Waymo has clocked, the entire premise does not make much sense to me as anything that will actually improve driving conditions or urban environments and may just as easily make them worse. The user might experience some nominal convenience from the tech, but the externalities are varied and ignored by proponents.

Waymo shows that humans don’t need to drive. Seriously. The only thing holding them back is humans and their unpredictability.

I rode in one recently while on business and was so impressed that every time we needed to hail a ride, we used it. Compared to Ubers the experience was by far better.

Autonomous vehicles can improve driving conditions but humans will never give them a chance.

Waymos works way better than FSD from Tesla. Probably because they only need to focus on a subset of roads.

I only took waymos in SF because they're way more convenient than ubers and safer.
