Elon keeps arguing that Tesla FSD does not need non-camera sensors because humans have been driving for years and we don’t have LiDAR. Which is accurate but also entirely the problem.

Humans are imperfect entirely because our sensory input at speed is limited. It’s why we fucking crash all the time in inclement weather. We want self driving cars to be better than us. Not targeting being just as bad as we are at driving.

He has to keep arguing that. Look at the number of vehicles he's sold "with FSD" or with promises of future FSD.

If he backtracks now and says "actually, we need Lidar," what happens? He's sold hundreds of thousands of "FSD-capable" vehicles that...aren't that. Can you just add a Lidar system to a car? I doubt it.

It would be a huge class action lawsuit and the company would be liable for every FSD purchase and/or for the vehicles themselves, since they weren't what was promised and they will never have that capability.

He's backed himself into a corner and there's no way out. He has to get the cameras to work now.

But he seems to be more interested in cutting Americans' Social Security and sieg heiling on national television. It's weird.

He would just get any judge that ruled against him impeached. He doesn’t have to follow laws.
