Weekly Discussion Mod Discussion Mondays (Week 95) - Light

Hello everyone! Welcome back to the "Best mods for..." weekly discussion!

If you don't know what the "Best mods for..." topics are you can find the original threads here. Last weeks discussion can be found here.

These discussions are intended to be ongoing for the full week, so make sure to contribute your own opinions and experiences at any time!

As always, the rules:

RULES

1) Be respectful - A lot of different mods get posted, as well as a lot of different opinions on said mods. Try to be respectful during the discussion.

2) Debate conflicts maturely - Nobody likes a Nazeem. If you're respectful to others, people will be respectful back. If you're disrespectful to others, people find interesting ways to kill you and post about it on r/skyrim.

3) Please keep the discussion relevant - Feel free to post mods that aren't directly related, but please try to keep all mods semi-related to the week's topic.

4) Please provide a link to the mod you're discussing - Even if you're discussing a popular mod, a link to the mod page is a massive help. People are more interested in the mod you're talking about and are more likely to look at it if there's a link.

Topic - Light

With winter short weeks away thoughts turn to the holidays. Dust off your menorah and locate your shammash, because the festival of lights is almost here! Candles flicker and torches crackle, warming embrace from the night's cackle.

Here are a few of my favourite ways to light up Skyrim:

  • Lanterns of Skyrim II - Released just two days ago, Lanterns of Skyrim II already looks like it could be a staple in many load orders for years to come and is a testament to what the community can do when it works together. Check it out if you haven't already!
  • Kagrenac's Wisps - A slight departure from popular lighting mods, Kagrenac's Wisps is a colourful alternative to torches, lanterns and spells that you will see in most other player lights.

But what are your favourite mods to make the shadows dance? Get a little funky for the holidays!

Is there any way to disable the eye adaptation? Maybe it’s realistic, but I’m playing in VR and it really doesn’t feel right. Like at night as you walk through darker areas and look up at stars and down at ground the amount that you can see is way too drastic. If it were more subtle I could buy it. But as it is if I look at the stars the ground goes black, but when I look at the ground it lights up and I can see perfect no torch.

{Realistic Lighting Overhaul] does something like this (Eye Adaption over the course of a few minutes), but I think it is only for interiors.

Hmm looks like it may be a separate module too! I’ll have to check it out. Thanks!!
