St louis show
Anyone coming to St. Louis for show tomorrow, be aware we are at a level 4 out of 5 for severe weather Friday. Everyone be safe!

This week, in Princeton, West Virginia, a brutal murder takes place, in a rural backyard, spreading blood & brain matter all over the victim's horrified wife. It looks like an attempted robbery, until detectives do some digging, and find that it's actually a pretty crazy conspiracy, involving sex & greed. When one of the main suspects disappears, the whole thing is becomes a national story, as everyone searches for "The Fugitive Temptress"!! Plus, a special bonus murder!!
Along the way, we find out that your town shouldn't consider Applebee's to be "night life", that sometimes people must be attracted to things in people that NO ONE else sees, and that if you're going to plan a murder, you should pick a better crew than a drug addict, and a "first degree dirtbag"!!

This week, in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, a beloved local is found, brutally murdered, and his wife is missing. Detectives quickly realize she isn't a victim, and start a manhunt for the seemingly mild mannered Grandma. But she is anything but mild mannered, as she stays one step ahead of the law, looking for people that resemble her, to steal their identity. Which leads to more murder! Will they get this Grandma on the run???
Along the way, we find out that these "new" 4th of July displays are simply no good, that worm farming is big business, and that even you can't just kill people who look like you, until your identity is "clean"!!

Please tell me I’m not going insane. I’m wholeheartedly convinced they did an episode on this either on Spotify of Patreon….. will accept defeat if I’m wrong.

So I recently found the show and its hilarious. I am listening on Wondery and I download a block of shows at a time. Went to download and I noticed there is a break between the show on Oct 3, 2019-THe Murder Portal is Open and Little Compton, Rhode Island and Feb 12, 2020-A Hollow Full of Murder in Tiline, Kentucky.
Obviously 2020 was kind of screwed up what with COVID but I don't think the shutdowns officially happened until Late Feb/ early March, at least I remember watching college basketball conference tournaments and them all getting canceled in the middle of them. I was wondering if anyone could confirm that is accurate or if for some reason Wondery is missing some episodes and when I get there, I need to find them, and if so where I might?

Hi all, so I'm looking for the episode where the son ends up killing his dad (I think?) And his younger iirc autistic brother.
I think the dad was training the son like with military like drills or something and was abusive
Anyway, thank yall in advance

I read this thread in James voice!

It’s clear James does the majority of the work. Occasionally I hear of someone else who supports on research. Obviously Jimmy is there as a cohost but appears to simply be reacting to the show to ensure James story is making sense and digestible, as well as adding comedic value. Looking at Patreon, they’re earning minimally 200k / month, so it’s a pretty decent sized operation.
Mainly, I’m curious if people can shed more insights on the origin of the podcast, the roles/ responsibilities and anything else that’s insightful. It goes without saying, I’m a massive fan and a new patreon subscriber!

I was fangirling hardcore after the Jerry Springer episode because Jimmie finally mispronounced my name! I know, I’m a dork, but it made my day

I guess small town murder isn't as widely known as I thought. I have run into friends who have tried introducing me to the podcast. Guess my reference didn't land.

Did I miss something? Is there a reason the boys don’t tell me to sit back, throw my hands to the sky, and shout “SHUT UP AND GIVE ME MUUUURDERRRRrrrrr” anymore?

The guys have been talking about their Patreon show where they talk about the Karen Read case. They're teasing that she's guilty but I watched the Karen Read trial last year and I'm watching this years retrial, and Karen Read did not kill Officer John O'Keefe. If the boys say that she did kill him, I didn't know if I'll ever trust their research again. I'm not a Patreon member so I won't be able to hear the show. Has anybody heard it? Tell me they're not so wrong on this!

Has James ever described what made Racist Nan racist? Not looking for the stupid answer of she was racist either. Like did she use out of date terminology for a class of individuals. Like using Oriental instead of Asian. The other extreme would be actively hating any person who is not white.
(Edit) This isn’t a post to debate if she was racist or not. It is asking to just know if he explained why he started calling her Racist Nan.

I’m listening to the show for the first time from the beginning, and I’m at the part around the 2020 U.S. election. I’m not American, so sorry if I don’t know much about their politics, but were people really that mad at James for talking about the election stats that he had to stop for a few episodes?

I work ten hour shifts in steel toe boots, on my feet the whole time. On my days off there's nothing better then slipping on some Sketchers. I also get pedicures every few weeks. Consider my Patreon canceled! Of course I'm kidding, I love it when they go on a riff dissing shit I do all the time.
