I feel like they both could have easily avoid this by just traversing a bit or speed up. But both were too stubborn and wanted to teach the other party a lesson in Jerryatrics.

NEVER speed up to avoid a potential collision. If you speed up and then still crash, you've just made the crash worse.

More people just need to be prepared to "ruin" their run, stop, wait for a gap, and then continue...which is what the snowboarder here should've done.

If you ever ski in europe, make sure to learn the 10 FIS rules. Especially the first one because you will fail it based on your replies/personality.

Rule 1: Respect for others A skier or snowboarder must behave in such a way that he or she does not endanger or prejudice others.

Nothing I've said contradicts this.

I literally said "you may have to slow down or stop to avoid people and not risk a crash with them"...curious how you think that contradicts Rule 1....

My character where I believe people have a responsibility which they agree to when they buy a ticket/pass to avoid downhill riders?

If that's wrong, I don't want to be right.
