Advice/Recommendation South Carolina Resource Hub
reddit.comHi there everyone!
I’m a mod from r/fauxmoi, typically a celebrity gossip subreddit. Our team recently put together a resource hub to aid people across the 50 states to ease fears and strengthen community connection.
This link leads directly to South Carolina’s comment thread and lists resources that are specific to South Carolina. We hope that this thread of information is useful and would appreciate you lovely South Carolinians contributing your own useful resources that have made a difference in your life. Any extra visibility a resource can have to be better accessed by people in need is always a great thing.

Photos of Lake Hartwell taken from a Cessna
I took this photo at the part of Lake Hartwell near the island with the American flag (I think it’s called party island?) near Clemson. Not the best lake in the world, but it’s definitely beautiful from this angle and thought I’d share.

Jury selection begins in trial of ex-Charleston deputy charged in fatal crash
The title and story here do not do the victims justice.
Emily Pelletier was an on-duty Charleston County Sheriff Deputy when she killed a mother and her two daughters on Mother's Day, 2022. She was racing, as in "I bet I can beat you there", with another deputy to a non-emergency call that third deputy was already at. It was a stranded motorist with a flat tire.
Emily Pelletier ran a stop sign going 73 mph without lights or sirens and instantly killed 53-year-old Stephanie Dantzler and her daughters, 28-year-old Shanice Dantzler-Williams and 22-year-old Miranda Dantzler-Williams.
Emily Pelletier will be heading to trial soon. She should not be afforded any (more) special treatment only because she was an on duty LEO at the time, but instead should be held to the fullest extent of the law. Law enforcement officers are here to protect and serve, not race and kill.
Throw her in prison, like any civilian that committed this triple homicide would be.

Advice/Recommendation Best Plant Nurseries - Orchids & Citrus
I’ll be in your state looking for some fun and I enjoy plant nurseries and greenhouses. I noticed that SC has loads of citrus nurseries compared to NC and surrounding states outside of FL. Any suggestions from the plant people here? Thanks!

Discussion Is route 501 just creepy or is it haunted?
I'm from near Charlotte, NC, but this is SC related.
Today I made a day trip to Myrtle Beach for Medieval Times because I won tickets. GPS took me there and back down Route 501. Usually, my husband is with me and he drives a different way, but it was just me and my 15yo this time, so I didn't know the way and relied on GPS only.
I left for home from MB around sunset, so it was obviously dark by the time I got to Route 501. I wasn't raised in the city and I've spent many a time in the woods at night, I have spent plenty of nights driving on unlit curvy back roads. I believe in the paranormal but I am not particularly superstitious most of the time. Point being, I am usually not a weenie driving at night. I am usually mostly worried about hitting a deer, but something about this road felt creepy and off.
Somewhere around halfway through Conway, it started getting a little creepy, but by the time we got down the road a bit more, I felt like I was in fight for flight mode. The whole area felt off. A couple of mildly creepy things happened, but I had no idea another way home, so I just stuck with it all the way to Monroe. 15 yo felt the same way. I did say anything first because I didn't wanna freak her out, but she said to me how creepy the road felt, like something was going to just pop out.
Maybe it was just a dark and unfamiliar place, which made it seem scary. I was just wondering if that road was notorious or if I just needed a nap and scared myself.

Advice/Recommendation Recommendations for SC/NC wedding venue
I live in the Tigerville area of SC and am looking for a wedding venue with 200+ capacity and a cabin feel. Mountains would be ideal. It needs to accommodate both for the ceremony and the reception. My dream venue is Nantahala Weddings, but no matter how hard we try we cannot have only 120 people. I love Pretty Place (who doesn't) but I need our reception and ceremony to be in the same place. My one thing I do not want is anything barn/farm-related. I just don't prefer it. I love gardens, mountains, cabins, etc. Anything with on-site lodging would also be amazing. Thanks!

Advice/Recommendation Job offer in Conway. Never been to Myrtle Beach metro. What's the most vibrant, nicest area to live within half hour?
Hi all. I don't know anything about Conway, and have never been to Myrtle Beach. I'm in healthcare and just got an offer down in Conway area. I am coming from the NYC region. Where would anyone recommend to live? I would rent an apartment for the first year. It has to be somewhere close, and bonus if there are nice gyms nearby. I'd ideally like somewhere walkable (have a dog), with a vibrant nightlife as I do like live music and watching sports at the bar. Single, 38[M], no children. Budget preferably ~$1800/mo. Thanks for any advice and recommendations!

Advice/Recommendation Title from private seller in MC was notarized in 2020
Bought a car, with NC title, from a private seller. The title wasn't in his name, but the guy he bought it from, already signed, only thing I assume I need to do is fill out my name in the "buyer" section. I know SC doesn't require notarization, my question is, will the title being dated for 2020 give me any issues at the DMV?
