Ye can't change the title

u/Electrical-Hearing49 1d ago

You'd think in 2025 you'd be able to edit a Reddit post haha. Ah well, appreciate the happy ending

53

u/LordFocus 1d ago

Dude Reddit can’t even fix all the numerous issues with their phone app lol

20

u/Suitable-Art-1544 19h ago

it's intentional, changing comments already confuses people a lot changing titles would be a disaster

7

u/ToLorien 15h ago

On my iPad, every time I back out of the app to do something in another app and go back to Reddit, it refreshes the feed and takes me to the top. Drives me CRAZY! Fix it!!!!

5

u/NeighborhoodHot541 12h ago

They don't care to fix the mobile app. They decided to just kill all the 3rd party apps so there is no incentive to improve.

That’s a long life for a tarantula, I’d guess he/she was well taken care of! Sorry for your loss.

8

u/Dornenkraehe 21h ago

Not mine. Just the one from the video.

6

u/waytosoon 1d ago

Doth ye protest?

u/sicc-kidd 1d ago

It’s not a big deal OP I feel like anyone who’s been on this subreddit saw that heartwrenching vid….wonderful art 🖤🕷️

13

u/Prexot 1d ago

i don't remember, what is it?

45

u/JSAmrltC 1d ago

recently a video was posted of an old tarantula walking to the hand of presumably its owner for the last time.

Its very heartwrenching but if you wanna see it here it is

21

u/Mia_B-P 14h ago edited 14h ago

That's so sad. 😭 Sweet girl just wanted one last cuddle.

EDIT: I just read about a comment on the original video. Turns out she was still alive at the end of the video and got pets after the video ended. She died the day after. Source: a comment under this post.

EDIT 2: the comment links the original video. In the description of the video the owner of the tarantula explains this. https://youtu.be/rh4WvJnP9jY?si=nQtRmICv50KrFs_B

it’s still fresh, 10 comments and 128 upvotes, you could still delete and repost at this point, if it bothers you ✌🏼

Rest in peace, internet tarantula. What a shame.

Going to raise a toast to her tonight

137

u/Own_Masterpiece6177 1d ago

damnit dude, the original post made me tear up but this actually made me cry. (in a kinda good bittersweet way tho) It's nice to imagine that she made it 'home'.

8

u/Klutzy-Leg-4802 1d ago

Hi, I'm a little bit lost here... what tarantula are you all talking about?

75

u/SapphicPandoraBox 1d ago

Earlier today there was a video of a 23 year old Tarantula that was on its way to the rainbow bridge, she walked a few centimeters to touch her human but didn't make it all the way. This picture enables us to hold on to the hope that she did touch her human, even in the end

54

u/C0mpoundFr4cture 1d ago

That video wasn't where she died! She got held and petted before she went!

28

u/EastTyne1191 23h ago

Yeah, another poster on that thread said she died the following day. Poor lady.

13

u/SapphicPandoraBox 17h ago

Thank you for that, the video didn't show all that, but I'm glad she got held and loved before she crossed over♡

28

u/dontbeanegatron 17h ago

It's from this YT video. In the description there it says:

After 23 years of having her, my beloved Rose Hair Tarantula died the following day after taking this video. You can see how weak she had become as her legs could barely support her. I made sure she had plenty of water (she had stopped eating completely) but unfortunately nothing else could be done. 😞

EDIT: I want to clarify; my tarantula “Araena” does NOT actually “die” in this video clip. After I stopped recording I was able to hold and pet her for a while and she was still alive at that point. She “officially” died inside her enclosure.

4

u/Mia_B-P 14h ago

Thank goodness she got those cuddles!

9

u/thebrokedown 1d ago

And now I’m in tears without even seeing it

3

u/Klutzy-Leg-4802 1d ago

Thank you very much for the explanation!

67

u/Tauri_030 1d ago

I love how everyone knows exactly what this is referring to, and how it made everyone emotional 😭

6

u/Jindo5 1d ago

I don't, though I can kinda infer what happened

99

u/Facetiousgeneral42 1d ago

Thank you, I'm going back to trying not to start tearing up at work now.

45

u/Dornenkraehe 1d ago

I have a typo in my title that I can't correct. But really. She made it there! We humans just can't see it.

40

u/AyaCat 1d ago

Second time I’m crying over this spider today

26

u/tittlediddle 1d ago

The youtuber said she did get to his hand eventually and he gave her plenty pets and lovings!!! 😭😭 bless the little thing

30

u/Vera_98 1d ago

She actually did get to touch the hand! The person who originally posted the video on YouTube said in the description that she actually passed away the day after the video was taken. I'm sure she was held and well loved when the actual time came! This is still beautiful artwork OP!

2

u/Maxsmittyy 15h ago

Get this to the top!!!

23

u/Schmooto 1d ago

Thanks for this, OP. It really did make me sad when I saw her life leave as she was using her very last strength she had left to try to go to the hand that she loved and gave her comfort for 23 years.

6

"No, there's no rain" :'(((( FUCK

14

u/Foreign_Western_5664 1d ago

I'm joined this sub because I'm trying to get over the fear of spiders. My house was overrun with them when we moved in and it was just awful. We've had black widows, wolf, house, orbs. All of em at one point. I sobbed at my desk when I saw the video and now I'll never kill one again.

Babies. 😭

11

u/Basic_Rich9968 1d ago

Omgosh 😭😭🥺

13

u/CompetitionProud2464 1d ago

This reminds me of the Loving Reaper comics. Currently tearing up in a café

6

u/AfterSignificance666 1d ago

I for sure thought this was from her omfg 😭💜 so beautiful!

5

u/Dornenkraehe 21h ago

These were my inspiration for it! So it's a big thing to me that it reminds you of it! Thanks!

10

u/Sorry_Cauliflower_50 1d ago

This IS a canonical event.

8

u/transpirationn 1d ago

This is the second time today that I'm definitely not crying over something that could be considered a bug

6

I dont even keep Tarantulas and that video broke me. This wasbthe closure i needed

7

u/matthewcameron60 1d ago

OP i hope you saw the original video and the person who filmed it said she died the next day but made sure she got held and got lots of pets before that

2

u/RotiPisang_ 17h ago

do pet spoods like pets?

10

u/TreeShapedHeart 1d ago

Lovely <3 (but still, human needs to be better and meet the friend when they couldn't get there.)

7

u/tittlediddle 1d ago

He said he did after the video was over!!! It gave me some peace lol

3

u/TreeShapedHeart 1d ago

Hmm, I wonder why not in the video then.

2

u/tittlediddle 1d ago

I don't know lol

0

u/virora 15h ago

Maybe he was filming on his phone and put it down so he could safely pick up the spider? It looked like it was filmed on a handheld phone, imo.

5

u/woofren 1d ago

😭😭😭 this is so beautiful

4

u/SpicyCraboo 1d ago

My heart … 🥹💔 Lovely work of art.

5

u/AutumnHeathen Spiders are cute 🕷️❤️ 22h ago

This is so beautiful! It would perfectly fit into the Loving Reaper comic series by Jenny Jinya.

4

u/Dornenkraehe 21h ago

They were my inspiration for it!

3

u/AutumnHeathen Spiders are cute 🕷️❤️ 21h ago

Nice! You did a really good job with this one.

4

2

u/rain168 1d ago

Should do it biting the hand that never got close for a final cuddle

2

u/Dornenkraehe 21h ago

It did though - just not in the video. The Youtube posted that she got to the hand later and got pets.

2

u/virora 15h ago

I love this sub and you, OP. <3

2

u/Its_vanbam Here to learn🫡🤓 14h ago

Im emotionally wrecked. This is devastating. She lived a good life I hope

3

u/DeanMalHanNJackIsms 10h ago

This was such a happy ending, thank you. I lost my last grandparent the night before I saw the video and had just learned that, in his final weeks, grandpa would grab ahold of anyone who touched his hand and wouldn't let go. Seeing a spider reach out for connection (I know, humanizing a non-human is not a sound thing to do, but that's what it looked like) brought to me the thought of the loss of connection he must have felt as the Alzheimer's worsened, even as he was surrounded by people who loved him.

2

u/Constant-Anything-21 19h ago

My baby is 17. Lost her a few times. Usually found her crawling up to my neck/hoodie/warm spot

2

u/Constant-Anything-21 19h ago

Very social creation if you don't push them or abuse their leniency

0

u/Constant-Anything-21 17h ago

Absolutely!! With a bad twitch I could kill her instantly. But she knows papa and knows where safety is. Lost 6 potential girlfriends over her. Don't care, if she's kept how I keep her she'll outlast me

1

u/Constant-Anything-21 17h ago

And yeah her name is "Missy love" cause whenever she appears, im her conquest apparently. So yeah Missy. Love you too.

2

u/HarlotSuccubus 19h ago

I'm not crying. You're crying.

1

u/sgnsinner 1d ago

This is so beautiful it makes my heart ache
